Ok I have two faults codes coming up both relating to engine misfires. My car is running like a bag of poo, the coolant has gone from pink to sh!tty brown. No cream on the oil cap at all still head gasket ?
-
Have you scanned for fault codes?
-
Yes mate two codes both to do with misfires 16684 and 16685
-
My coolant is a rusty awful brown colour, suppose the inside of something is rusting away but I'm not massively interested in finding out what. It still works perfectly. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that the head gasket is gone. I'd say 90% of the misfire in these cars are coil packs or ignition amp related (for AGU). How old are the plugs and coils?
-
Yeah coil packs need changing and due a service but it's the coolant changing over night that points to head gasket
-
nope your oil cooler is buggered!!

This. Seemingly a more common fault than head gaskets. Any steam from the exhaust? Does the coolant tank smell of petrol/exhaust vapors after running?
-
The oil cooler had crossed my mind but would it cause the missing like it is ?
-
I would defo go with the oil cooler.your misfire as said above is prob due to either coil pack or if it's the agu engine it has an ignition amp on the air box that are also known to play up.

coil packs rarely go on a agu.... i thought that may have been my problem but got it scanned yesterday and coils are fine, waiting on ignition amp now .. still doesnt explain the brown stuff in there tho.

that brown colour could be coming from the water pump. remove the timing belt cover and start the car, if the water pump pulley is shaking then its knackered
-
You'll be very lucky to pull any sort of engine fault code off the AGU, the ignition amp definitely doesn't show up
