Hi everyone, it has been a while since I have been on the forum, but I have since re-caught the modification bug and have had a wellycooler FMIC, deleted the carbon canister and had a custom made full turbo back exhaust with a 2 & 1/2 inch down pipe and 200 cell sports cat (which sounds awesome).
anyway, the ideas for doing these mods have been born from trying to get my remapped car feeling remapped again. I have consistently had the code "17963/P1555 - Boost Pressure Control: Upper Limit Exceeded" over the past year or so keep popping up. This results in the car going into limp mode when putting my foot down, I can feel it hold back, then sometimes the power suddenly comes back.
I have an AUM, you can see what other mods I have in my signature (quite a lot), there are no boost leaks in the silicone pipes, as all have been changed except for the hard plastic bit with the grey cover that goes to the actuator. The actuator is set at 2 turns and a bit of pre-load. I have tried 3 turns and 1 & 1/2 turns. None of which make much difference.
Possible reasons?
1. I still have the N112 valve hooked up, could this be the cause of the code and going into limp mode if it is not working properly?
2. N75 valve. I originally had a C valve, I replaced it with an E valve from TPS. The other day I put the old C valve back on and after 2 days the code came back and made the MIL show up on my dash. Before now the MIL light wouldn't show up, but the code would still be there. Could both N75 valves be at fault? I am not sure if the E valve is the right one for my car because the original was a C. Should it be the F valve I use?
R-Tech suggested to me it was the N75, but also suggested I ask on the forum as it sounds a bit puzzling if its not the N75 valve. So I am asking what people think, especially about the N75 valve, or if they have another idea what could be causing this problem. I really need to sort this because I want to go stage 2 with R-Tech.

Contact forge and get the repair kit for your DV and also have a look at your actuator and possibly replacing that?

I have done both of these things not that long ago, I got the Forge actuator with yellow spring.
Update on the problem. I replaced the N75 valve and now the code seems to of gone, but has been replaced with the infamous 17705 code!

Slightly off topic but where did you get your exhaust and how much was it? I'm thinking about possibly doing the same.
Thanks

From here http://www.topgear.co.uk/ I paid £750 for a 2 and a half inch down pipe turbo back, 200 cell sports cat and cat back complete system with a life long guarantee

You wont have the 17705 code unless you have a boost leak, on saying that the AUM is known for this as a "Ghost" code.
When was the last time you check your injector seats/seals?
I might also be worth checking your rocker cover gasget and inlet manifold gasget too.

Only a little while ago I sprayed some stuff on the injector seals and I couldn't see anything that suggested a leak.
Will the car be put into limp mode with the ghost code?
Where is the rocker cover gasket and inlet manifold gasket?
Thanks

If its a ghost code then no.
The rocker cover gasket and inlet manifold gasket are located exactly under the rocker and inlet manifold dont cost alot to change and an easy DIY job too :)

Thank you!
I will go and have a look for a diy guide on it

I think I'm going to get one of their customs. Cheers for the heads up :)

Your welcome  The exhaust sounds lovely, they the chap that did it even cut my back bumper really well for the twin exhaust end, therefore, I didn't need a V6 4 motion rear valence!
Do you live near Bridport then?
-
I've found a rear valance for 45 quid so I'm probably going to buy that so no chopping required but it's good to know they can if I need them to. One if the studs on my turbo has snapped but they said they'll fix that too. Nah I live in Hertfordshire so they put me in touch with their St. Albans workshop. The exhaust I've got on there is in a bad way and I was thinking of getting a decat downpipe and a catback exhaust but I think I'll get the custom with the sportscat and keep it all legal and looking real smart too.

Cool, they do nice exhaust systems that are much better than named stuff that is normally a couple of hundred quid or so more. I chose the sports cat to save the trouble of having to have to change it once every year.
They also do custom remaps, they tried to get me to have one of theirs, but as I have an R Tech stage one, I thought I would stick with the masters of the 1.8t engine and get a stage 2 from them as well.
-
I've been thinking about remapping too. Want to get an induction kit and things like that before I do though obviously. What's the difference between stage 1 and 2?

I don't know what the difference is yet as I am booked in to have it done next Friday 22/11, But stage 1 was much better than I thought it was going to be. I couldn't stop grinning like a Cheshire cat!

Do you think I'd be better of getting the map done by top gear or at another tuner? Top gear must do a lot of maps I guess and mine wouldn't be the first 180 they done. I spoke to them and they said not to waste my money on the 4motion rear valance because they've done hundreds of cutouts and it will look decent. Saved me 60 quid. Also just ordered a ram air intake and some brakes :-)

Yeah, there is no point in spending money you don't need to, my cut out they did looks absolutely fine. If you send me an email address or phone number through pm, then I can text or email you a picture of how they did mine so you can have a look.
Ram air are brilliant, you can really hear the air being sucked in!
As for remaps, I don't know what your Top Gear is like. All I know is that they do custom remaps and they cost £300. Personally I would use R Tech because they have all the best reviews and they really do an excellent job. Plus, I think they know the 1.8t engines better than most other tuning companies and they will tell you what other things to get, or what you will likely to be needing soon after the remap to compensate for the more power. oh yeah, R-Tech have a rolling road too!
-
Well they wouldn't make you a very good map without a rolling road :) but yeah, you're probably right. I think I'll get my pipe done and then look for a decent tuner in my area
