Looking to buy vw and keep just use now and then and leaning towards future classic which poss recommend golf mk1/2 gti or g60 lhd, corrado g60/vr6 storm or anything else. No rallye's to much to buy, what ever will be project wanting work.

I got E46 m3 now and combo van for work soon be traded for caddy, so still want vdub play with and keep for some years. Looking corrado be best option at moment.

How about a 2l GTI 16v? Needs a bit of love, let me know if you want details... Gutted I dont have time to get her back to her former glory...

Ha I sold my vw and got a e36 m3 evo with low miles. Thats a classic.

As a Corrado VR6 Storm owner, I don't think they'll ever attain "Classic" status. They simply weren't thought of highly enough when new, and never really pushed the boundaries. They were good, without being great. The fact they were also stupidly expensive, and released when the last recession was the buzz word and fuel prices were uber high at the time, mean't they didn't sell well. An awful lot of parts are also obsolete now and very hard to get hold of. Some are available from VW Classic parts, but they are usually stupidly expensive. Prices are rock bottom at the moment and will rise a little no doubt, but I wouldn't bank on it being a lucrative investment for the future. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore it, and you won't find a better FWD handling car of that era. They have amazing character too and are an absolute joy to drive. A small cult following will be as good as its ever likely to get though unfortunately.
Rocco or Mk2 Golf Valver would be my recommendation tbh.

I'm not convinced any of them will be classics to be honest.
If you look at the contemporary classics, eg stuff from the 60s and onwards, look carefully at the people who own them. Lots and lots of people who were kids when these cars were launched. They are driving the car their dad drove.
The problem with GTI is that Dad's didn't buy them in the first place, so there are no kids that 30 years later want to pick them up. The people who bought GTIs and the rest back in the 80s/90s were young guys (like myself at the time).
The problem with these contemporary classics is where that scene goes when the current owners die off? Would I buy a Ford Zodiac? Over my dead body.
There will be a time when they are classics but we'll be long gone and it'll be when they eligible for the London to Brighton run.
However, give a Golf a good long term home regardless of what it's future title will be.
