Hey guy just wondering if any one could help me out. I've recently got back into the scene after selling my golf and regretting it so dropped on with a 2002 Audi A3 1.8t with the aum lump in it. Unfortunately there is a problem with it lacking in power at times. When you change gear some times u here a funny noise instead of the quiet hiss from the dump valve. When it makes this noise it really lacks in power and makes a wooing noise down the exhaust if u keep your foot down it will build up the revs slowly then the turbo kicks back in again and goes like normal until you back off and the same happens again when it should dump.
Ive done a quick video to show what im mean u can here the annoying noise and then here the turbo kick backin

Never heard anything like that before. Are all pipes on??
Any fault codes?
-
i plugged my code reader in and have got a fault for the n249 valve. Im goin check all the pipes and maybe just buy a new valve but dont really want buy 1 if its not goin make a difference

N249 controls the dump valve so would explain boost loss..
Look at the guides on the delete for them.

Do ya think that could have anything do with the stupid noise. The turbo boosts fine after about 4k likevin video so dnt think its goin beva turbo fault

I'm new to the site and to these cars so don't want to get ahead of myself but seeing as people do the n249 delete as a mod and you're fault code is with that which is to do with the recirc valve you're saying doesn't sound right, id say removing the n249 is definitely worth a go and even if it doesn't fix the problem you've done a mod people do anyway. If I'm well off the mark I apologize but I think I'm along the right lines.
