..... any good camper forums?
I'm thinking of flogging the mini (me and the missus have 3 so one can go!) and getting a bay window camper. Had a look on Ebay but would like to do some further research and check out some forums.
Your help as fellow dubbers would be appreciated.

Have heard it can work out cheaper to import them, seeing as the market atm is going crazy for campers.

Also well worth a chat with Vaughn: gti89

Cheers guys, not looking quite as expensive as I thought but some seem to be silly money!

^ over the obvious things like condition/mileage.. pre '72 ones always fetch more as they're tax exempt

As jv says, Volkszone is your best bet as it's the biggest fastest forum I've ever seen, just watch how fast the threads move.   It depends on how much you want to spend on a camper, you do get what you pay for but there are some sh1tters at big money out there but as Rich says, speak to Vaughn/gti89 as he will be able to sort you out a decent camper at a very reasonable price.
Another forum is justkampers --> http://www.justkampers.co.uk/interactive/kamperchat/index.php
There are loads of camper sales out there so go to the Golf+ website http://www.thegolf.co.uk/ click on classifieds and then Volksworld and there are a load of campers for sale on there. Have a look through some of the other VW mags at the classifieds, like Volksworld (good air cooled mag), VW motoring and Ultra VW.
Another website to look at what's for sale --> http://www.dubs4sale.com/

Well what we're after is something with an MOT that is not rotten, but surface rust and blemishes are not a sticking point. Got a budget of between £3.5K and £4k depending on what I get for the mini.
There are so many different variants it's mind boggling as to which we would prefer. I'd love a Bay window but I'd happily settle for a T25 with a pop top.
Thanks again for all your help. The search continues!

P.S It's maiden voyage would be our Honeymoon in July next year around the west country!

3.5k to 4k is exactly what gti89 can do them for, it will have an MOT, probably new paint and a decent engine with a decent interior. Give him a PM and he should be able to sort you something decent out, you also know that he's a regular on here and goes to most of the shows so he's not going to do a runner with your cash after selling you a sh1tbox.

did someone mention campers
if your interested mate i`ve got a 1978 devon moonraker, which will be going in for restoration in 2 weeks, its got a full camping interior, sink with working tap, 2 hob cooker and grill, rock and roll bed, loads of storage space, will sleep 4, its got a reckon 1600 engine which was fitted last week( as my mate has borrowed it to go down to cornwall)it will have a full respray, 12mth mot, 2 owners from new, the lady i`ve just bought it off had it for about 15 years.
basically you`ll be getting a very sorted camper for £4k. we can also spray it any colour you want for an extra £250(as its green at the moment and we`ll respray it the same colour again)

its got different reg's... :undecided:

err could that be because they are different vans? the top one is a restored one, the bottom is the one vaughn has just picked up!
-
Oh dear I appear to have dribbled all over my laptop!
Would you be interested in swapping it for my mini and my GTi? No of course you wouldn't.
Right so I guess you have these kinda things on the go all the time so when I've got the money together I can contact you and sort something out.
I'm all excited now and need to steady myself before doing something rash!

yeah i`ve always got 1 or 2 knocking around, just offered you this 1 as it`ll be a really nice van when done, its all original etc etc, my mate always replaces panels that need replacing, no fibreglass bodges here. also got a 1969 devon all original interior etc etc, but thats going to be £5500 when done. usually takes about 8 weeks for the restoration. hope this helps you.
