Hi Guys.
I'm in the third week of "Processing your order" on the Tracker 1 through 7 stages.
Is this normal, or are there situations where the order can be "slow tracked"?
Thoughts please.
-
Ordered my GTD last Saturday. First time I checked was Wednesday and it was at Stage 2 - With the Factory.
-
Mine was processing from July 19th to August 15th, but as I already had a tracker number from my dealer I wasn't too worried.
Have you got a number from your dealer?

JellyB: Not sure which number you refer to, but order number is the requirement for the tracker and that is what I entered.
-
Placed mine yesterday, and it's already on 2 "with factory". I was going to ask when it goes to build week confirmed, but grateful it's already with the factory.
For those who have order recently, have you been quoted the 25 week, or sooner? I've been strictly been told 7/3/14, and it will be that at the latest, but should be early. I'm not holding my breath about that, and am just hoping I'll get it by June next year.
-
Sorry, wasn't thinking! You are right.
For me it did stick at processing for about 4 weeks before it went into the factory. Not sure if that is what everyone else had though.
-
I wasn't given a number until 3 weeks after making the order. At which point I checked the tracker, and it was on with factory. Still is!

jellyB:
Yes. It seems odd, to say the least, that some orders fly though the processing phase, yet others, as described on this forum take weeks. No apparent reason, one way or the other.
As I indicated to the dealer that I would prefer delivery for 14 plate, is it possible that the dealer, when putting through the order, specified a "go slow" in some way?
Anyway, I'm cool on delivery, 14 plate or otherwise. I am just interested in the logistics of the whole "screwed up VW operation".

Unused allocation slot at the dealership ordered through leads to a quick turnaround?

Ginagee:
Your case, along with mine and many others, underlines the fact that there is no rhyme or reason for such disparities in order to delivery times.

Please expand.

All the dealerships have allocation for the retail side on GTI/GTD orders, fleet sales are less restricted - which is where most of the broker cars come from.
For an average sized dealership they're allowed 1 a month of each (that might ease offonce we get rid of the initial rush and potential supply exceeds demand). In my dealership, my Dad got one made 3 weeks before the summer shutdown at Wolfsburg, mine had an allocated build week just after, and mcmaddy was about 3 weeks after that. You might find that a dealership has not sold all of their allocation slots, so they get an order placed and it goes on the next allocation slot available to the dealer which may be as little as a month away.
My dad's GTD got built in BW25 and I think it was the first UK GTD on this website after order placed in BW13 - 12 weeks wait. Conversely, mine was ordered BW12, confirmed for BW33 but actually built in BW 35 - 23 weeks wait, and I ordered before him at the same dealership but an administrative error on mine following a change of colour saw his jumping the queue.

Thanks for that, MH.
So it really is a "suck it and see" and hope for the best situation.

Hi,
I was quoted 25 weeks when I ordered the car on 23 October. It's confirmed for build week beginning 24/1/13. Insanely fast on a car I didn't need until June 14 :s
-
Hi, I ordered on the 10th Oct and was told BW50, it's now at Stage 3 -(Your order has been confirmed for production week commencing 24/11/2013) now BW48.
My dealer has confirmed he expects my GTI to arrive the 16th Dec, so i hope he's right.....Nice Xmas present :smug:
-
I ordered on 6th September and am still on 2 of 7!!
It seems that those who don't want the car yet are all getting early build slots, whilst those who are desperate have to wait !!
Surely they should have an option on the order form for urgency, rather than presume that everyone wants it straight away??
-
I ordered my GTD CSG on the 15th July and i am still on stage 2 of 7 (With the factory) Beat that?
-
I ordered a CSG GTD on 29/7/13 and mines still at stage 2. Called VW customer services on Friday and they have given me an unconfirmed build week of week 3 next year. Good jod my PX price is fixed, dont think my dealers to happy about it though as they will be out of pocket as the price was quoted for october delivery
-
Ordered my GTI DSG with a large spec.(suppose to take longer) first week of July, dealer reckoned delivery after Xmas so settled in for a long wait, then got a BW of first week in Oct. Car now sitting in UK waiting for delivery to dealer, so I wonder if a lot of it is down to VW matching up a run of similar spec cars for efficiency, so if your lucky with spec matching a run it accelerates the process?
-
GTD does seem to be taking longer than GTi, but it does seem to be a bit of a lottery in either case. A long wait is one thing, but when some people get their orders months quicker than others, there does seem to be something wrong with the ordering process.
-
I ordered my GTD on the 9th April and took delivery of it on the 1st November, just shy of 7 months!
-
Think I might contact the dealer tomorrow. Ordered my GTD on 27/09 but havent got an order number or estimated build date.
Mind you he did say it would take 12 weeks to get my car, now Im thinking he might have been telling porkies.
-
My dealer told me 12 weeks too. 8 weeks later, still no build week. Porkies indeed. Keep getting the same 'very popular...unprecedented demand...will keep you informed...etc...etc'
-
They will tell you any crap to put you off chasing them.
I've had the lot so far
Order book open too early
Holiday shutdown (like they didn't know that was going to happen)
Hailstorms
Parts

Yep, they will tell you anything. I wouldnt mind so much if they were honest about it at the beginning.
Now Im probably going to be in a position where I have to do without a car (selling my MK5 GT TDi in Jan) or buy something else until the GTD arrives, sometime in 2015 by the looks of things. lol
