Yup, some people have experienced severe smearing around the knuckle of the drivers side wiper, as well as squeaking and judering! Not good! :sick:


Mine seem okish atm though. :)

Thanks for flagging this up. My wipers do all the things that Jimble mentions, and the drivers side wiper smears nicely in my line of sight ! So I for one will be investing in a new pair (although it is slightly annoying that I need too !)  :angry:

Interesting, would they not replace them under the warranty for you ?

The replacements would be no better, so you've wasted the time and fuel going to the dealers. It's cheaper overall just to buy the Bosch ones yourself.

I had 3 replacements on my Scirocco under warranty, each as crap as the last because they just put on another set of the same item number every time. The Bosch Aerotwins are far better than the standard ones that come with the car.  On my current ones, with a decent amount of rain they are adequate, but it’s light rain they become smeary on the drivers side.

I will definitely order a set once the snow and frozen windscreen season has passed. The standard wipers are so poor for a 26k car.

This is the only gripe i have with my car, the wiper blade on the driver side does not clear the rain away properly, it leaves a smear right in the middle go my line of sight, around knuckle height as mentioned....

Me too if Volkswagen hasnt already resolved the issue when I collect mine.
I will probably get a set after the winter though  :smiley:

Why struggle through winter with crap wiper blades? Surely it's worth paying less than £20 not to be pisssed off by the Valeo ones VW give you?

Well I ordered a set online earlier and they have been despatched already. I should get them early next week and when I do I'll fit them straight away and I will let you know if they are an improvement on the original blades. Fingers crossed....   :whistle:

Maybe I'm lucky as my original wipers work fine...even after I had a windscreen chip repair done after just 8 days of ownership!

Update ! I only got around to fitting the new Bosch blades yesterday. I'm one happy customer ! After a 25 mile wet commute to work this morning I can report that they don't smear, are silent and they don't judder ! I've never been so pleased with a set of wiper blades !!! Highly recommended  :grin:
