Post by: budgie on 31 October 2013, 19:44
droped off my son started car and it sounded crap.. like a subaru, drove it a bit, not much loss of power but sounded terrible, stoped and turn off, started again and still the same!! drove it a bit more then it jumped into life as it should drive, done a bit of reading so im guesing its the coil packs ..... or could it be somthing else? oh and my service light has just came on, routine one.

This is the first step you need to take before spending any money on it.

Just a warning, the AGU won't give many codes and definitely won't show the ignition amp as a fault

Ignition amp won't bring up a code, but if its an agu then 99.99% that's your problem. Sounds fine on idle but then a few revs and its burbles like an impreza.

Had the same on mine and got a 2nd hand amp for 20 off eBay. Had planned to replace with a new one if it cured the fault but its still going a year later with no trouble

cant see a service helping much its more than likely the ignition amp with the symptoms you have posted an coil packs hardly ever fail on the agu
