Title: GTI ordered last week showing build week 49 on VW system!
Post by: iandjm on 29 October 2013, 11:06
Hi,

I ordered a new DSG GTI last week expecting a 25 week lead time (which everybody seems to have), which ties in with my current Mk6 PCP agreement ending mid next year.  Today I had a call from my dealer saying that on the VW system the car is showing build week 201348!  Can this be true or will the build slip 20 weeks soon?

Thanks

Ian

Sounds like your dealer had some allocation going spare or perhaps there’s been a cancellation to your exact spec that has just been confirmed (within 4 weeks of actual build) which you dealer has been allocated.

Or maybe you’re just a spawney git!

Don’t forget to put the lottery on for tonight’s Euromillions draw!

It looks like I am lucky. Not sure where the money to pay off 5 months extra of the current pcp deal will be coming from though :s

Marting it looks your build week is well below the forecst 25 week wait. things appear to have speeded up!

Anyone know how much the price rise that come in next month is?

Cheers

Ian

A price rise of 1% in November has already been posted by someone.

I think I was lucky too on my high spec GTi.

Ordered Sept 14th
Got a confirmed BW46
Dealer still predicts Dec/Jan delivery which is what I was told when I placed the order.

Hope there are no delays.

Fair play!

This is frustrating for a lot of us, who've had to wait 20 weeks+ for delivery of our cars.

You are also likely getting better discounts that we did and collecting only a few weeks after we are.

Never going to be an early adopter again! :-)

Yes this seems to be the case, its a shame really, I do feel sorry for those that have had to wait a long time.
Its due to 3 factors it seems, VW UK opening up the order books too early, hailstorm and the factory closing for a month.
Any manufacturer who has to deal with all 3 of the above issues is going to suffer

Don't worry folks, once your cars are here and enjoying them all will be well.
The new MK7 Golf rocks!!!!

mmmm,
Opening order books too early - VW's fault
Hailstorm - OK I will give them that
Factory closing for a month - it happens every year, its their holidays - not like it was out of the blue!

Still waiting for my car................

Mine seems to be coming pretty quickly too - Ordered October 3rd and have been told delivery late December/Early January. Already been told there is no issues with it waiting until March for the new registration and a boat back out of the country!

Genuinely gutted for the early adopters with the massive wait you had to endure (which was too much of a wait for some) when people are getting theirs in (my case) an estimated 12/13 weeks.

Just had email from dealer - On checking your GTI order yes it has a build week of 48 and it's actually got a production confirmed status for that week. I would expect your GTI to arrive here at the dealer the week beginning 16th Dec allowing for shipping etc.....
I only ordered it on the 10th October...... :smug:
Cant grumble about that eh chaps!!!!!

Almost identical situation for my GTI order (performance pack, Vienna leather, discover nav) placed on 16th October. Build week confirmed today (as per tracker) "week commencing 24/11/13" so that's week 48 I guess.  I've no idea how long shipping will take though. Allowing a week for production, my bluest guest is a few weeks in transit based on info from dealer so my possibly get before Xmas, info t early Jan I expect. So in summary, 12 - 14 weeks.

Lead times are luck of the draw I imagine.  I wouldn't have thought it would be a good idea to rush down to your dealer to place an order as soon as a new model is launched for a number of reasons other than the expectation of a longer wait.
