Post by: Shizzle on 28 October 2013, 10:01
My car is not what i call low and i don't drive it fast over bumps or drive into kirbs but i have had 5 splitter in like 3 months is there another styling option to replace the splitter maybe a shorter one or a stronger 1 last 1 i baught was eBay job made of ABS plastic and all the clip's to hold it had broke leaving 1 side just hanging and unrepairable.

i want to keep a splitter as i like the look of the big one but costing me alot any solutions.

ebay one's are junk. They shatter at the slightest knock.Genuine one's are much tougher but a lot dearer

The JOM ones  are sh!t, there are better aftermarket ones out there made by Retov, these last a good while in my experience and can take quite a few knocks but will break eventually. Either find a genuine one or get the other style splitter which isn't as deep.

I got 3 genuine vr6 splitters that will not brake! Ive had one completely folded under the bumper and it poped back.

Make me a offer

i have baught the cheapest  1 that was ok until something touched it and it shattered.
then i baught the ABS with the guy in the picture bending it making me think they had some flex(they don't)
the cheaper one actually lasted longer than the less cheap one

There was a wicked thread on here regarding what splitters fit the MK3, i'll try and find it.

*Edit - http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=178674.0 *

I run a Duckbill off a Passat B3 which look hot as low but has much better clearance.  In fact the sump and subframe are lower than the front of my splitter.

I've had success with ASM in Aylesbury as they don't really know there golfs very well but by far the best one i've found is Steven's Auto Breakers over in Chelmsford who specialise in VW.

Rubber splitter...now theres an idea!
