Post by: rowlers on 21 August 2005, 20:46

Is it just a standard electrical cable or are they special connections??

Cheers

ive just recently installed an amp and on the back of my hu (also sony) there is a long connector which has colour codded wires coming out of it and there is one that is the remote cable you need to extend this if it doesnt run through your car already and hook it up to your amp. We used standard cable to extended the blue and white cable in my golf mk2. Hope this is of some help however little

think you've answered my question

If I think back to when I installed the head unit there is a blue wire "hanging" on its own out of the back of the connector, If I crimp this to an extrsnion all the way to may amp this should work!

Didn't think I needed to fork out for an "Amp installation kit"

By the way where have you installed your amp - in your boot??

Cheers

yeah in the boot attached to the rear metal lip inside the boot and all cables ran under the carpets with an earth point right by the amp and fuses both near the battery and inside the amp itself. Better to be safe than sorry! Also installed new 6 x 9s and sub on rear parcel shelf.
