Title: E-Brake
Post by: westwoap on 24 October 2013, 13:54
Taking delivery on Sat of my GTD and had a question. Can you use the E-brake as a manual handbrake or does the auto hill hold always kick in.

It always kicks in AFAIK. However, you can still bring the car to a standstill on a flat road without hill hold kicking in if you dont apply as much pressure to the brakes

It's a bugger to use when you're trying to crawl through a narrow gap on an incline (getting out of my driveway).

You can turn auto hold off, there's a button just behind the handbrake that deactivates mine.

Can't say I've had any issues with autohold though, I love it. Mine seems to disengage with only a slight blip on the throttle.

It's when i'm trying to make sure I don't snag the wing mirrors on my brick gate columns (3" spare either side!) and i'm on a crawl while climbing up a 15% incline. Get below 3mph and the handbrake wants to bite on again.

As you can imagine, I don't use the drive very often.
