Title: Golf 7 vs 6 - GTI catback
Post by: SA-GTI on 23 October 2013, 19:46
Anyone had a chance to compare the golf 6 gti vs golf 7 gti catback as yet? From the pics I have seen, they look near identical. I am trying to figure out if a Golf 6 catback will bolt straight onto the 7 as there was an aftermarket system for sale locally.

When I asked bcs if they were working on a system they suggested it would be the same as the mk6 so I'd email them to clarify first but I'd say yes it is the same

Magnaflow also have the same part number listed for the 2013 GTI and 2014 (safe assumption that it's the golf 7 gti) system. It's the APR system that I'm looking at which someone locally is selling off their Golf 6 GTI

But annoyingly Milltek have released a mk7 which is more expensive than the mk6, is this just marketing or is something different we won't know until someone takes the plunge

I think a bit of both, what the difference is, I'm not sure, could just be design or layout, I,e, resonator sits further forward towards the DP instead of closer to the rear wheel well like on Mk6.

And mk7 is a longer car. So it must be different. There is always the possibility to make the exhaust longer by "glueing" some more tube, but in my opinion it's idiotic. Something I would NEVER do. Cut 'n paste in a car is something utterly ridiculous to me.

Unlikely to be the same part. As stated above the car is longer... not only that but wider as well... do the exhaust tips exit in the same place? I'd be careful or you could end up (to coin a Top Gear phrase) being a clot and runining your car
