Post by: MickP mk3 on 22 October 2013, 18:45
I liked the red MK2 door GTI badge way better than the MK3 badge, so i set about re-vamping mine today and heres the result

That does look good! Any particular trick or just a steady hand with the paintbrush?

I had my door trim off for repainting the bottom panel, so i took the badge out scraped the silver off the gti with a Stanley blade then sprayed it with primer, then scraped the primer off the gti, then sprayed it red and scraped the red off the gti, then give it a coat of lacquer

I pushed mine out from the back while the strips were off the doors, not sure if you could ping them out from the front without damaging the plastic.

I managed to wedge mine out from the front last night using a feeler gauge

Will post a pic when I'm done!

Mine didn't turn out so great,  so just replaced them,  with something a little different....

They come with an adhesive backing rather than clipping in, fit is perfect.
