hi i changed my oil and filter yesterday and when i checked it today it was just above the max mark by a little bit will it be ok to leave it ,if not whats the best way to get the oil out with out loseing the lot
-
It will probably be ok if driven sensibly ,but start thrashing it and you run the risk of extra crankcase pressures which may cause you some unwanted oil leaks, best undo the sump plug whilst engine is cold and let out what you don't need.
-
I would take some out
As said if you undo it with the engine cold you should be able to get the plug back in no problem
-
cheers i wil do that today

best undo the sump plug whilst engine is cold and let out what you don't need.
I would not recommend this idea as it will be unholy mess, better to use a syringe and some clear plastic tubing and suck out a little bit.

Have you ever tried refitting a drain plug after only trying to let a little oil out :undecided:

+1 on what wayne said.
would be easy to remoe it till its on the last thread and let the oil drip out then re-do, but you would be there for days waiting. id suck it out the oil refill hole.

Yes ive done it countless times , i would never give out advice on things I know nothing about ,you don't remove the plug completely just pull it away some.

unwind it till it's loose, hold it at an angle and pop it back in.. isn't hard. if you do happen to have a big syringe and a long thin tube handy it does save you having to crawl around on the floor though!
