Title: Diverter valves, rev D poor performance
Post by: squires on 16 October 2013, 14:04
After suspecting mine was gone due to lack of boost at higher revs when I first bought my golf, I removed my old type valve which was split.
Put a rev D valve in and car was great boosted all the way through rev range and fuel consumption improved.

Now I'm back to square 1, inconsistent boost, can hear the boost leaking under acceleration and dumping a little at high revs, fuel consumption is awful again.

Valve has only done 800 miles, so I'm going to fit a rev G rubber type again, I no,it will split eventually but at least car will perform again.

So if anyone is thinking of getting a rev D dont bother there crap

I've been advised by Hurdy to get the DV+ from GFB as it replaces all the bits that are known to fail and it costs only about twice a whole new diverter valve, but gives added throttle response... I will let you know how it feels once I've fitted my GTI with it!

I've seen that as well I'm going to go for one for piece of mind, then a good stage 1 remap

Almost exactly what I'm doing to my GTI! Let me know how you get on with the DV+ valve upgrade, or I'll drop you a line when I've done mine.

Rev G over DV+ for me. for the price of it I would just get a standard REV G may change it 2 or 3 times during my ownership. guess you need to weight up how long your going to keep her for...

Having fitted my DV+ and run it for a good 100 miles now to gauge performance, I can say for sure that there's a change in power delivery from my engine, it's smoother through the rev range and also feels like the engine doesn't need to work so hard at lower RPM now. Also know that when I up the power by 20-25% that it'll cope with it fine.

Stupid question (mk4 owner), can you guys not upgrade to a forge DV?

Forge no longer required with the G revision release.

Forge no longer required with the G revision release.

Plus the oem version is half the price of the Forge and is a direct replacement. The Forge requires a bit of tweaking
