I'm sure my MK3 used to over-read when facing down a hill.
Let's face it though, £10 isn't very much...I wouldn't expect to see much of an increase on my fuel gauge.

well i have seat Ibiza gti clocks in atm they have been working all fine since now so empy is empty no "in the red" on the gauges so from a quarter to nothing over night

Might be a faulty sender in the tank then, thats a fairly common problem with mk3's

Ok well i will fill up again tonight and keep an eye on fuel i have spare unit in my shed so hopefully easy fix thank you for fast response much appreciated.

Not an easy fix! Pig of a job!

How's it a pig of a job? There's the access hatch under the rear seats, pull the pump out, change sender, pump in, wash the petrol off your hands, job done!

that does sound easy when you explain it like that.

brim the tank see what it says

A LOT of cars won't even move with a tenner. Two Clios I ran about in didn't, all my MK3's didn't unless I reset it (the trick where you get the digital rev counter) then turned it off and back on again.
The only two I know that do move is the A8, Passat and a Range Rover.

Odd thing just happened I fitted HID's the other week no problems then problem started few days ago but when I turn them on rev counter spazes out and fuel gauge starts working I think there is some dodgy wiring somwhere but gauges and sender work fine. It seems when I turn my lights on it triggers the the petrol gauge and it works fine after then.
