Hello, I have had my Mk5 GTI a couple of months and yesterday had my Pioneer DEH-6400BT head unit fitted. Today my alarm has being going off intermittently for what appears to be no reason. The stereo was fitted by an audio specialist garage, but I'm guessing something could of been missed. I've not previously had any problems with the alarm.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Jen

Take it back to them and explain what has happened. They should have used a proper loom, and not cut into any wires. If they cut into the wires they may have cut the wrong ones. Also if you have a Multi Function Steering Wheel then you need to have a CanBus fitted. The other thing that pops into my head is if they wired the permanent live wrong? But best to take it back if the alarm was fine prior to install.

Did you get this sorted Jen?
If you can get it plugged into a computer, you can find out what was triggering the alarm.
Interested to see how you get on with this, we are getting an intermittent false alarm at the moment.
The cause is the boot switch, but it seems to be operating ok.

Hi All,
Sorry for the delay in coming back to this. Thanks for your advice dTEA, I took the car back to the garage, turned out nothing to do with the stereo. One of the door locks wasn't registering properly, this has now been fixed.
hd_andy May be a similar problem, though I'm not sure what they did to fix mine! all I know is it's been silent for weeks
