Title: black plastic thing

On the 16v just under the dizzy there's a black plastic fitting which is fixed to to the head with a water pipe going to it.
What is it called as mine is split and leaking?

It is a water outlet flange.

Is it worth buying from vw or aftermarket?

Both will be ok just make sure you get the o ring (seal) as well
