Golf gti mk4 2000 w reg - AGU
I was driving along in 1st gear pulling away from the traffic lights and I just heard a snap like sound and my clutch just pressed in very hard and bolted itself to the floor. My car just wouldnt move. The clutch is still stuck to the floor and I managed to pull over within 50yards and park up. I didnt put it back into another gear I just rolled down the hill in neutral.
I am going to call the RAC tomorrow, anychance they can fix it at roadside?
What is it likely to be? clutch cable?
How much are we talking?
Is it a hydrolic clutch or normal?
I did get a new clutch when I bought the car in May 2013 if that makes a difference

sounds like your pedal has snapped

+1 What Barry said. Snapped pedal

Be the clip on the end of the pedal.
Don't know why vw decided to make that clip plastic.
Have a look see if there's any plastic in te footwell
And pray that it didn't bend the master cylinder like it did mine.

Aww that sucks, took it into the garage today and still dont know what was wrong with it.
If it is the clutch somehow and I would be getting it replaced under warranty. I am considering remapping and upgrading the car so which clutch/other options should I be considering? And can someone give a direct link or company to consider as I will need to purchase shortly. Will also be considering a milltek exhaust and running a carbonio airfilter currently.

Its not the clip , its the weak metal welds were the clip is housed.
my push rod bent a bit too , but still works fine 8 months on :)

Garage said it was the clutch pedal box. That's all I know at the moment I have no idea how much that will cost.
-
if your good with a spanner remove the pedal find the bit that pinged off and get it welded back on this will be stronger than the oem pedal and if you know someone who welds wont cost you anything to fix
-
Cheers. Sounds like an easy n cheap fix then

Wow, the garage I got it towed to said it would cost me £200-300 for the clutch pedal box including labor.
Called http://vee-dubs.co.uk/ and they quoted £30 for the clutch pedal box or £60 including labor!
Hopefully it gets sorted! said it can be done today! so v happy if it works out
-
For that price I'd get he them to do it too, not worth rolling around on your back lol

All sorted for £60 - hopefully it stays sorted ha
