Title: To root or not to root?
Post by: Bellend on 09 October 2013, 12:16
I rooted my Desire and absolutely loved it. What about on a Note 2 though? For some reason I'm on the fence but now is the best time as it's brand new!

Anyone got any experience with Note 2/S3 ROMs?

I'm still using the original S3 rom, its great, I've rooted it but thats only for very few apps that need root. Cerberus is one of them.

I rooted my old phone (HTC Sensation).

Alll I can say it was hard to get a stable rom which caused a few annoying issues. Some apps did not like it rooted either (some came up with the "not responding" error).

Good luck

After the longest battle ever it's running Cyanogen latest stable. Love it so far.

My memory card effed up so lost my backup. ParanoidAndroid just kept crashing keyboard, Cyanogen Mod then wouldn't accept SIM. downloaded a Portuguese Samsung ROM then downloaded latest CM got it going fine then installed Gapps and keyboard crashed. Then downloaded older Gapps and all good. Awesome ROM! :afro:

Wow, seems like a lot of fuss for whats normally all done from ClockWorkMod. I flashed my S3 this weekend with CyanogenMod as I was going to factory reset it anyway, and it only took a couple minutes to download and flash it, with Gapps, all in one go.

Yeah it's all good now.

The proper version went straight on no problems. CWM is on the phone now. Tried loads of different ones til I found one that worked. No idea why but loads didn't install on it.

10.2 Nightly, built on 11 Oct. I thought I'd miss the Samsung "gimicky" features and so far I've not .... I like being able to customize the notification LED colours

The only reason I flashed CM is I was going to factory reset the phone as I had installed so much crap on it, a lot of kids apps/games for my girls, battery life had gone to sh!t, so was an ideal time to try CM again.
