My dealer has just rung to say that my new GTi - collecting Thursday - can not have Mud Flaps fitted, despite the fact they were specified when I ordered the car back in June. He say that the extended skirts on the GTi mean flaps can not be fitted without drilling into the skirts which is not approved by VW.
Has anyone got dealer fit Mud Flaps fitted on their GTi, or are there any after market flaps available which fit and how did you fit them?
-
Few options:
1. They can cut the mudflaps to fit instead of cutting into the car. Someone had this done.
2. There are GTI specific mudflaps coming... not sure of ETA, so they could fit them later when they are available.
3. You didn't really want the mudflaps anyway right?

Already discussed here bud:

Thanks - have contacted my dealer with this info and await their response

Mudflaps are definitely a personal preference, they can make the car look like a rally car. But they can also make it look like a volvo.
I would wait for GTI specific ones.
Here's the Mk6 wearing a set;;

I know its subjective but that looks great, really suits it.

I wanted the mud flaps but they weren't available. I will certainly consider them getting retro fitted when they become available from VW as I think they look the nuts. Plenty will disagree with me, but I think they make the rear end look even fatter, and I like it a lot
-
TBH for me I'd prefer to have just a front set to prevent the front wheels chucking up stones and crap along side the car. The rear I would keep as it is.

monsta's pick of the mk6 does actually look pretty good. Might have to change my mind on this.
-
Just checked with our dealer....these numbers are not correct for UK dealers at the minute...

I think they look really good on the blue colour - not sure they would if there was more of a contrast on like say a white car?

I think it's the wheels that make that car look good. How many modern sports cars do you see with mudflaps nowadays?

I still want a set of Mud Flaps on my GTD when I hopefully collect it on 1st November

It's perfectly understandable for GTD owners

yeah it will cut down down on the stones being thrown up onto your car Craig!

I can live with stones hitting the underside of the car. Mudflaps ain't going to prevent them hitting the bonnet

The mud flap numbers are correct but only appear on "pipeline" list and cannot yet be ordered.
I've removed them from my order as my car is about to be PDI'd.
-
My dealer also confirmed that they can not be ordered on the UK parts system yet so I had to take delivery without them. Bit of a sod really as they would have fitted them free at PDI but will now charge for fitting if I order them when available.
I will search Ebay and Amazon at regular intervals to see if they become available cheaper than via VW direct

Mud Flaps are still not available yet from VW
