Title: mk3 golf daily beater!
Post by: andynorfolk on 08 October 2013, 23:54
so i bought this off my sister as a daily runabout for the princely sum of £600

(http://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/a427/3NothingRemains/mk3golf_zps0a6c98a5.jpg) (http://s1034.photobucket.com/user/3NothingRemains/media/mk3golf_zps0a6c98a5.jpg.html)

it is really tidy and has had a full respray in the last couple of years, it's a 1.6 with 120k on the clock

plan is to run this while i'm getting the mk2 on the road then have the mk2 as a weekend car :)

needs a few bits:

gearbox mount
drivers window regulator
oil and filter change
new plugs
new drivers door handle and lock (already have this)
wheels need refurbing

comments welcome :)

so yesterday i cracked on with getting her back into fighting form! :D

first off was a good old service, first i got rid of this tired old air filter...

(http://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/a427/3NothingRemains/20131026_141350_zpsaa3d86b8.jpg) (http://s1034.photobucket.com/user/3NothingRemains/media/20131026_141350_zpsaa3d86b8.jpg.html)

for a shiny new one i found laying in my garage :P

(http://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/a427/3NothingRemains/20131026_141357_zps81840569.jpg) (http://s1034.photobucket.com/user/3NothingRemains/media/20131026_141357_zps81840569.jpg.html)

then i changed oil, oil filter, plugs and sump plug... plugs were a b!tch to do as it is a crossflow head and can only just do it without removing the inlet!

then i changed the gearbox mount, which was actually in two pieces!

then next was to replace the drivers electric window regulator and door handle and lock...

(http://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/a427/3NothingRemains/20131026_141404_zps7d8ad7fb.jpg) (http://s1034.photobucket.com/user/3NothingRemains/media/20131026_141404_zps7d8ad7fb.jpg.html)

(http://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/a427/3NothingRemains/20131026_141415_zps7d9c172d.jpg) (http://s1034.photobucket.com/user/3NothingRemains/media/20131026_141415_zps7d9c172d.jpg.html)

the muppets at gsf had given me a manual one so i had to drive back to get it exhanged with no doorcard and wood holding the window up aha

(http://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/a427/3NothingRemains/20131026_141436_zps9147e904.jpg) (http://s1034.photobucket.com/user/3NothingRemains/media/20131026_141436_zps9147e904.jpg.html)

then i swapped my mk2 wheels onto her as i hated the dare rs especially in black... then i went to wind the coilies right down but the front passenger lock ring was seized so next weekend i will be removing the helpers to get extra lows :D

then got a few snaps of her clean :)

the spoiler on it is one given to my sister by the previous owner, it is meant to sit on the rear screen almost like a sunstrip but i thought i'd turn some heads by wedging it between the bootlid for the meet, have removed it since aha
