I have no brake lights at all. just changed the switch and checked the fuses but nothing. changed the bulbs still nothing. It seemed to have happened since Saturday when I changed a bulb after being told I had one out but now dead.....poxy car is pissing me off and wondering why I sold the vr6

When you said you've changed the switch, did you mean the switch behind the brake pedal with a plunger on it? If not then this is the likely cause.
Mine broke a while back and I got a new one from VW for around 15 quid.
-
yep that's the one I changed. £11 from vw

If you've changed the bulbs, switch and fuse then it must be a wiring fault / broken wire etc. I presume all the other lights in the cluster are working?
-
yeah all lights but the brakes and the one up top. wireing fault mmmm sounds fun
-
so has anyone got any ideas where I can start?

multi meter, and work back try to find where you get voltage and where your not getting voltage and youll be able to isolate where theres a break in the cable/where theres a faulty component.
