Title: Got a dilemma, Help me out...
Post by: Nino on 06 October 2013, 22:18
Hey guys, Ive been doing my misses head in about changing my wheels for about 6 months, the other day we were talking about it and she came out and said, "Babe if you want I don't mind giving you the money to buy new wheels and just pay me back when you can" I was like

Then I got a text "check your account" Logged in and saw she has transfer £790!!!! again im like

So ive been browsing the web for the past hour looking as to what I should order the only wheels I can seem to like are....

Rotiform NUE, 3SDM 0.01/0.05/0.06, BBS RS & BBS CH's

I also want to have a wider rear but im worried about rubbing.

For example, I went on rimstyle and I am able to get a set of 3SDM 0.01's with 8.5 front, 9.5 rears with 225/40/R18 tyres and metal valves and shipped within my budget but im worried that having 8.5's on the front are going to cause issues?

Any chance I could get some feedback from you lot please?

The wheel width won't be the issue, the tyre size will. I'd be looking at 205/40/18 on the front and 215/40/18 on the rear

Oh, and out of that lot either nue's or 0.06's :afro:

Can I ask why you say that tyre spec? I only ask because The only option on rimstyle is 225/40/R18

and both NUE's & 0.06's are out of my price range lol

This is the best option I can get on the tyres....., the only options it gives are...

3SDM 0.01's 8.5j Fronts, 9.5j Rears.

With rimstyle, That wont work will it???

also 3sdm's are too overdone, rotiform nue's are getting that way but out of that choice for me it would be the rotiforms

Good stuff, which ones?

The only reason I said about the tyres is that if you want to go low then you might struggle with scrubbing on the arches. I'm sure you'll be fine though :afro:

Hope rim style have them in stock! Mate waited 2 1/2 months for his even though it said they were in stock online. I also bought rota grids off the site and they were going to make me wait for 6 months!

Fingers crossed for you though bro will look fat as!

Yeah, I rang a few places regarding those wheels..

ranged from like couple of weeks to 6 months (possibly longer).

As with the spacer and tyre options, this site should help as there are a few 3sdm 0.01s:

http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5661012-Mk4-Wheel-Offset-and-Stance-Picture-Index

eg:

Front: 18x9.5 et20 215/35/18
 Rear: 18x9.5 et20 215/35/18
 Fenders Rolled: Yes
 Fenders Pulled: No

Yes bud i looked into it and as far as im aware i could not find 8's anywhere i rang a few conpanys and they told me the 0.01's were not made in 8's only 8.5+ in currently running 8's and i get no rub.

Damien. Yours are zito 935, aren't they?

Nino. I used gtechniq c5 on mine when they arrived. Used all 15ml to be on safe side.
Read really good reviews!

C5 has very good reviews, personally I use Poorboys wheel sealant to seal mine and Bilberry wheel cleaner.

Went with this, Was going to use C5, but two reasons stopped me, 1 was the price, £25 and thats one application i.e 15ml and two it says it lasts up to a year but im guessing id be spending £75 per year lol, I went with Dom's suggestion for two reasons, one its cheaper and two spending £25 for both with all the applicators means I can do it weekly for a good while before it runs out :)

Should I be worried?!

Anyone else see a problem here? Im sure I ordered 4 wheels.....

My first thought was that they have packed 2 wheels in each box and the 3rd box is my fitting kit, But surely that would breach H&S laws for the poor delivery driver?  :undecided:

Yip turn up yest, Rear fit perfectly, infact I could do with lowering the rears further, However the fronts are 0.1mm away from my coilovers so Ive left them off for now and ordered some 15mm hubcentric spacers from creation motorsport and some 40mm locking wheel nuts... a further £80....  Im not overally happy with the tyre strech but ive seen worse.
Also still waiting for my poor boys wheel sealent to arrive that I ordered two days ago because I want to fully seal them before I fit them.

Untill then here are some pics. (excuse the crappy mobile its my mums, ment to give an idea on the concave)

The wheels just don't show their concave in photos compared to seeing them in person haha. Especially the 8.5s.

Why is that bad? they were the second option of tyre, 1st was Allices or something and the next step up was an extra £166 ontop of £867

Did you not review the tyre's you had selected?

Yes i did.

1st set i could pick were....

2nd set were (what I went for as it was £21 more)

3rd set were (an extra £166 ontop on the 2nd set price which was out of my budget).

4th set were (took total price well over £1100) Ive had Yoko's before and they split on me after a week and Yoko refused to do anything about it as did National tyres so i'll never buy yoko's again

After that the price just went up, and up, and up.
In the grand setup of things I should of went with the 3rd option but my budget would just not go that far

As for Nankangs are known for whatever you said there known for lol I don't drive my car around a track or like an idiot hence why i get on av 390 miles per tank. So im sure I will be ok :)

I know it's probably not what you want to hear but I really would have opted for the Falkens, I need all 4 tyres replacing and I half considered the NS2's as they are £40 a tyre cheaper than the Falkens. The reviews on the Falkens are considerably better, especially in the wet.

No I know that mate, my problem was i really could not afford to go that far, I really streched myself going with the nankangs, if I could of afforded it I would of defo 100% gone for the falkens.
