boring
-
i think 99% of mk3 owners have lost their internet connection
-
Yeah most mk3's are
-
Must admit it seems alot quieter on the forum recently.
-
Only so much can be said
-
I much prefer the mk3 section to be that bit quieter, it could mean people are using the search function rather than posting the same things again and again.
Or the mk3 has become reliable in it's old age
-
I thought it seemed quiet baught mk3 gold GTI 16v thought i get on the forum all i see is mk4 golfs
-
The banter has stopped it's lost it sparkle.
I was looking at post from about a year and half ago, good laughs back then
-
Help and sarcasm? Not any more
-
Maybe i need to create problems on here to get the mk3 chat back up :D.
-
Help and sarcasm? Not any more
I don't get it? Help..... all posts seem to get an answer or two and I think most of the sarcasm was aimed at a moderator of this section who's not around much now!!
Plus wayne and len haven't had fisty cuff's for a few weeks....maybe it's time to stir?
-
I've definitely noticed it's been a bit quieter lately...not just this section but the forum in general.
-
Do any meets happen for the mk3 gti at all all i ever hear is just vw meets surely there is enough mk3 to do a local meet somewhere :)

there are meet's set up through facebook (not associated with this site though!)
-
i dont do facebook full of idiots and all that doesn't any1 arrange things on here this doesn't seem like a forum for mk3 owners sorry if i missing something but all i see it mk4 onwards.
-
I would like to sort a proper mk3 meet around my area (I know there's a few of us around) but I have being to other national forum local meets (in my Passat days) and only a few people turned up from a good dozen or so who said they would!!
Try and see if you can arrange something local to you (maybe as an add on to another local meet), I might try and do another mk3 mini meet at some point? I have a plan but need a couple of people to agree first :lipsrsealed:
-
Your a bit far for me although my misses parents live in Norfolk that's a little closer to Yorkshire :D,but a big meet would be nice as not much goes about on this forum i have asked a lot of question about mk3 golf not many answers.
-

I concur, I'm still trying to understand what's brought on the slump as well? The mk3 section in particular used to be flat out with new topics a couple of years ago on here.
-
Its got quieter since i moved into the mk4 section
Sorry peeps dont mean to be a traitor
Still rocking my anni about ao will still be checking stuff in here.
-

People posting the same thing again and again is exactly why it has gone quiet in my opinion...
Or people posting, asking opinions on what stickers they should buy? etc...etc...
-
Gonna be a whore now and attempt to promote UK-MK3's. They arrange local meets for the Mark 3. Either on Facebook or the Forum. I used to love this site but I said a while back the Mark 3 section had gone flat which is a shame as this is the biggest Golf forum about and theres a lot of people who know their stuff (and a few who dont). Was always good for a laugh and help when required but all seems to have stopped now.
-
I have posted a few question about my mark 3 and some with no real replies, i thought the mk3 was the common of the GTI'S and every would help and know a lot about all the little problems they can have.
I was recommended this site but a friend but its a shame to say it is a very quiet forum for mk3's.
-
It might be quiet in here but it is still the best Mk3 based forum out there IMO. Edition38 Mk3 section is poop, I check VWVortex often though. I must say I haven't been on here as much as I used to, mainly because my car has been reliabale for 9+ months!
-
i must admit mines has only had problems due to previous owners my question normally concern modding my golf like i just baught 9j + 8j banded steels how low can i go on what tyres :smug:
-
The internet itself is very quiet, as there are lots and lots of clubs with members on Facebook and the like.
Myself and JV were saying a few weeks back that the whole VW community is quiet, and the amount of show cars that are showing up without a build thread on the regular forums is immense.
Take a look at the classifieds on here, clubGTi, Edition38 etc etc. Years ago you would be bumping threads up on a daily basis due to the internet traffic, but these days you'll be lucky to get to the bottom of a page in a week! Where are all of these people selling? Gumtree, eBay, Facebook, who knows, but it doesn't seem to involve the forums.

Have a go at organising one. I try to rally the troops for the mainstream ones, but sometimes people fail to turn up, plus we have to remember the VW community is massive, and not all allegiances are pledged to GolfGTI.
-
Currently the mk3 section is quieter but looking at things the whole forum is the same (the forum does have quite times throughout the year) I have joined other mk3 forums over the years but this is still way busier than those. (I could name a few that have failed to take off :lipsrsealed:)
Facebook is different as you can do so much more than on a forum like this (and it's easier to target local area's etc, although why there's hundreds if not thousands of UK based VW boards beats me!)
(p.s my crown of "best moderator" on this forum still stands thanks to the support of the mk3 boy's  )
-
i have never been a fan of facebook i always like a good forum im only 24 and seems i cant keep up these days .
i could imagine meets being hard to organize with people location far and wide.
we do have a lot of VAG meets as my friend with his bora is at 1 every other week.
But not much with the mk3's
-
Come up to GTi Festival on Sunday then, it's not far from you and you can represent with a 3, as us Mk2 owners are taking over!!

This forum has got a lot better over the years, advice and behaviour towards memebers has improved.
There were some real bunfights in the Mk2/3 sections and a lot of crap talked, also some seriously bad attitudes.
I rejoined in 06 after a spells on ED38/Vortex which even to this day are all about scene points and willy waving.
I think in general things are just quiet, money is low and folks are staying home
-
Yeh that sounds about right its like mk3 golf owners/modders are dieing out :undecided: all i see on here mk7 golfs lately.
-
all i see on here mk7 golfs lately.
And a shed load of finance!
-
yeh and that
im an old school guy myself new cars i don't have any interest for tbh
-
I love cars but I've never been to a meet - keeping my eye on what the UKMK3 groups are doing though
The Anniversary is the only car I've had where people ask me about it in carparks and petrol station forecourts.
I joined here as the MK3 section on vwaudiforum (where I've been for years) you can hear the tumbleweeds :)
