Title: Rust!
Post by: GolfTi on 05 October 2013, 19:39
On the rear wheel hubs, small patches of about 1cm.
Wire brushed it off for now.
The same thing happened on the mk5 and mk6 and they got into a bit of a state.

What's the best way of dealing with it without taking the wheels off??

Do you mean the hub part of the brake disk? They come with a dusting of paint on them. They only permanent solution is to paint them properly.

Thanks dubber.
Yes, the hub next to the brake disk.

I think I'll return to my dealer with this one as it shouldn't really happen on a 3 month old car and I really don't want to spray any wax/oil anywhere near the brakes.

The mk6 hubs were full of rust after the first winter, I know its only surface rust but it's very unsightly.
