How low can you go on a set of 15" banded steels.
-
This low
-
I cant see how low that is
-
use the force
-
All depends on the offset of the wheels and how much work you will need to do to the arches.
-
And the width of the wheels
-
and how you feel about hedgehogs
-
However low you decide to go, remember to adjust and test your brake bias accordingly. :afro:
-
Got 8js on front 185/45/15
Abd 9js on rear 195/45/15
Well got original kit on atm but its goig paint shop after christmas so if I am to remove kit for wheels I will get it sprayed up to look nice.
-
Go as low as you like - it's only too low when you can't drive it any more :)
Mines about 40mm below stock - it still clears speed bumps and I can easily load the dogs (60kg) into the rear without it rubbing.
-
yeh mine is also lowered 40mm by previous owner i just done wanna get my banded steels put stretch tyres on and have big arch - tyre gap
-
Depends if you are going for looks or performance. 30mm all round would be ideal for performance and handling. You just got to laugh at cars which are too low these days.

I suspect someone running 8"/9" banded steel wheels and stupidly stretched tyres doesn't really care about handling...or they wouldn't be running stupidly wide heavy wheels or stupidly stretched tyres in the first place!
-
well i never drive alone always with the misses and little one so speed is not an issue for me i cant drive fast so low and slow for me for now.
-
Just be prepared to sacrifice a lot of performance and handling with that set up. No need to worry about chipping and lightened flywheels etc if the car is not set up correctly
-
well i need a clutch badly so i just put flywheel in anyway
wheels have just arrived

but for some reason 1 is missing
-
That might cause a bit of a problem. Who you buy them off?
-
http://www.bandedsteelwheels.co.uk/#!contact/c24vq
This is the website i have purchased them from and he said this happens alot with TNT they left it behind i hope
-
I get the feeling them wheels may not fit. I say this because i tried some steel wheels of a MK4 and they were 15" and they wouldn't clear the caliper on my MK3 GTI. :undecided:
and them steel wheels look like the MK4 style.
-
i have a set of Vento wheels on atm and they sit so close to caliper i cant put weights on inside as they hit caliper i have spacers worse case.
But calipers are only small and i have seen many cars with them on i will make these fit i work in a garage lots of tools technicians and knowledge lol and set of small spacers.
-
Get some lightweight Team Dynamics
-
i have had so many styles of cars and so many alloys wheels i though i go for the steel wheel option £400 supplied custom painted banded and delivered not bad and tyres gonna cost me for all 4 £130 NEW.
-
For £400 I would have gone with alloys, it will drive a lot better.
-
I wanted custom painted steels unique alloys are ok but slight pot hole with cheap alloy and its scrap.
-
4 tyres for £130 - they must be the cheapest possible Chinese ditch grabbers!
It always amazes me that folks spend so much on their cars and then compromise everything by putting crap tyres on.
I have to agree with the guy who said those wheels won't clear the front calipers.
I would also have fitted alloys at that price.
-
The tures im getting are mid range I get 20% of st stapeltons plus Vat free the most thing I can get super cheap.
-
Im sure I got toyo t1r tyres for £130 for four.
They are good tyres.
-
Yeh I love tr1 got them on the vento wheels selling.
-
They are the tyres I will be going for next
-
Toyo Proxes are good tyres - but £130 for 4? Not unless they are nicked :)
