I was having a browse through the Mk7 R pictures and noticed that the headlights have dual DRL in the headlights apposed to the single with the GTI. Here are some pictures to explain:

Basically i wonder if the headlight units are the same and whether this function could be turned on via VAGCOM? I would really like dual DRL!!

I'm not sure, that's what i'm trying to find out. If they are (and i suspect they will be) they should be able to be turned on using VAGCOM.

Someone on another forum tried to have a look but said they are sealed units and selfishly wasn't willing to butcher his new headlights to find out! :rolleyes: i would imagine ETKA will hold the answers?

I'd be amazed if it were as simple as a VAGCOM tweak but I'd be delighted to be proved wrong :smiley:

Are the GTI front indicators LEDs or bulbs.....? As im sure the R units have LEDs for the front indicators..

If thats the case then it would seen VW have produced a differant headlight unit for the R.....so my doubting mind thinks it will not be possible to activate the other "U" DRL

Is the other U in the GTI/D actually there as in for a function or is it purely decorative?
Chances are it isn't an actual working part. :cry:

It looks identical to the illuminated U, hopefully it can be lit up!

Fail to see how them lights will not function unless the DRL are not wired to them by loom which may mean a cable needs running from a connection point that supplies the working DRL?
Not seen back of lights obviously as still waiting! but be interesting to see if there is anything spare?
The hope however is they can somehow just be 'switched' on as think we would all love these :)

Just a quick look through google and it looks like some of the release images from VW when the Mk7 GTI was announced, they all seem to have dual DRL's.
