Inflationary price increase plus week 45 and 50 product changes02 October 2013
One per cent rise for all models and some options from 4 November
VW1195-13
From Monday 4 November 2013, all models and some options increase in price by one per cent
Golf Hatch (week 45)
All trims
Luggage compartment – conversion of handle to handle recess with variable luggage compartment floor
Label in tank cap changes from white to yellow background in all diesel models
Change to optional folding door mirror – this can now be operated with the remote (currently only works when the ignition is on)
Media-in with iPod adapter cables – introduction of ‘Lightning Adaptor’ for iPhone 5 alongside regular iPod connection, as standard
GTD – introduction of optional Sport and Sound pack – £255 including VAT. This sound generator enhances the aural sensation for the driver (and passengers). In ‘Sport’ mode (using the Driver Profile Selector) there is an additional acoustic emphasis to the sound of the engine inside the car, with no additional noise externally

Golf GTD brake callipers do not have logo03 October 2013
Make sure customers are aware that callipers are plain grey
VW1209-13
Golf GTD brake callipers do not have the GTD logo on, as incorrectly stated in the brochure and price list.
This is a misprint. An updated price list and brochure are being worked on and will be available on Desktop shortly.

Doesn't the GTD already have the sound acuator or whatever it's called?
The folding door mirror on unlock - surely this would just be a software upgrade of some sort? How would cars that are already built go about getting this?
-
hello
i placed an order on the 10th of august i have been told that my car will be built week49 will they charge me the 1per cent increase i have signed the relevant paperwork on the 10th of august.Thanks.
-
Cheers for posting the info, very interesting.
Any ideas if the GTD in the UK does have a sound actuator then?
-
All previous reports state that it does.

No don't worry, you pay the price at the point you signed. However, if you later make a change after the price rise they will reprise everything with the new prices. Under some circumstances this actually means it can cost you money to remove an option.

Yes it does.
-
No it doesn't , well not strictly. What the GTD currently has is a "Sound born actuator", which is on the plenum chamber bulkhead and is designed to resonate the windscreen to simulate a sporty noise inside the car only.
What the sight and sound package in Germany adds (which it looks like we are now getting), is the modified exhaust system. This does away with the rear silencer and has a speaker actuator fitted inline just before the rear axle. This speaker system is designed to give the GTD a sporty sound from the exhaust externally, so passers by will think you are driving a V8
-
wonder if it could be retro-fitted?

It states above that there is NO external sound. I know the one your talking about though, someone posted a diagram of that system.

So that's two price rises in one year from VW  Not good.
On the plus side, for those of us with iPhone 5's, we'll get a proper lightning cable.
-
If the sound actuator in the £255 pack has no external noise then it suggests to me that current GTD already has the system VW now want you to pay £255 for, and if you don't pay it then you lose the actator in any form. VW taking stuff off the standard spec. The change to the folding system operable via key fob looks like it will be an easy VCDS addition.

So the folding mirror thing is a change we should be able to request from our dealers before pickup? Wonder when this change is possible from. I'd like to try and avoid having to go back and forth to dealers if possible
-
Not sure why VW would want to make the GTD seem less sporty by making it lose it's current actuator. I doubt it would be a dealbreaker for many, but why take your top diesel, make it as sporty as you can anbd then start picking bits off it?
-
Unconfirmed BW50... very pleased about iphone 5 lighting cable as standard. Thanx for the info :)
-
best persuade my MD I need to order then. Shame about the sport and sound pack but its not worth £300 for a noise IMO
It'll probably include red callipers too as I note in the other note which Lee posted up VW were at pains to make it clear the GTD had unpainted callipers and standard.

Maybe while they're at it VW will also come clean that they do not actually supply 235 tyres for Mk7's, contrary to their current literature...

The handbook states that the external door mirror (puddle) lights come on when the car is unlocked. This doesn't seem to happen, I'm guessing because the mirrors don't fold out. Hence existing owners should be entitled to receive the fold-out option to deliver the functionality promised in the manual...

Soooooo, has anyone heard any more about this? I'm intrigued to find out exactly what the sport and sound pack involves. It seems strange to have a pack with only one feature. I'm estimated for bw03 so if I want enhanced sound it looks like I need to pay for it yet there seem to be very few details around. There is a deadline to amend my order before Nov to avoid the price increase so any info would be good to hear.

As per www.autoblog.com the Sport and Sound package is 18 inch Nogaro alloys, 225/40 tyres, Driver Profile Selection, red calipers and exhaust soundactor. They have also removed the rear silencer.
Found this video on youtube that compares the Sport and Sound pack normal and sport modes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6bl-oRfY8w (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6bl-oRfY8w)

So at the moment on e GTD there is audible engine noise in the car so from BW 45 it will be an option at cost? The sound pack in Europe was also on the exhaust and audible externally too so looks just the same as now but more expensive??
-
So effectively my car (based on list price) will be 1% more expensive than when I ordered it for equivalent spec.
-
price will be on what day you ordered unless you decide to change your options which triggers a new order number.
-
Yeah I know the price is fixed in the price rise but if I want the sound actuator I will effectively be paying 1% more because of the sport and sound pack. Hopefully it will include some extras like the calipers.

Evidently not for owners of Santiago wheels who should still be entitled to 235 tyres according to VW... None of the demos I looked at had them.

Looks like they have made a change to the headlight system too. It now says this:
Including static cornering function, automatic range adjustment, dynamic curve lighting,
headlight washers, low washer fluid warning light and LED daytime running lights.
Double ‘U-shaped’ LED daytime running lights on R models
I guess this means we now finally get the adaptive lighting (Swivels rounds corners). I noticed the European cars already came with this before. Saw a thread on this ages ago on this forum.

dynamic cornering lighting is already standard , my car was build week 37 and it has it as standard , you have to go into the menu to activate it

O right. I thought I read somewhere that it didn't have it. That's a plus t..hen! It was a new addition to the brochure so thought it was a new feature. I know the headlight systems for the European cars are different though....

Yup, as Physio. My car was BW40 and the xenon's have this function

Cheers guys...Looks like I was getting confused with dynamic light assist which we don't have in the UK:
Right then, from the Golf 7 Self Study Manual SSP517 - Golf 7 Electrical
Bi Xenon Headlights (with LED DRL's) - as fitted to UK GTI and GTD Models
(http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8531/8648119011_86ab3d9a53_o.png) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/58190042@N03/8648119011/)

Technical features
The bi-xenon headlight with dynamic cornering light (AFS, Advanced Front lighting System) features a daytime running light in a continuous U-shaped chain of 18 LEDs around the D3S xenon bulb.
The brightness of the LEDs is regulated according to the function being used (daytime running light or dipped beam).
The LED unit has been designed so that the entire LED chain is switched off in the unlikely event than one of the LEDs fails.
The power consumed by the LED chain when the driving lights are on totals approx. 4.4 watts (dimmed activation) and approx. 8.5 watts when the daytime running lights are on.

Technical features
The dynamic light assist (DLA) incorporates the dynamic cornering light (AFS) and dynamic main beam control (MDF) functions.
The layout of the bulbs and the appearance of the bi-xenon headlight with advanced front lighting system (AFS) and dynamic main beam control (MDF) is the same as that of the bi-xenon headlight with AFS.
The design of the inside of this bi-xenon headlight is, however, different. It features a group of individually moveable screens which can be swivelled into the light cone cast by the main beam lamp.
The dynamic main beam control function, that is, the partial masking of certain areas of illumination, is implemented through a combination of the screens and the horizontal adjustment of the module.
Hope this helps ?
