VWR's Golf GTI on their lowering springs and 19" alloys, just looks spot on to me

--WOW--Now that's what i am talking about... That looks bloody good.

That looks great! Is that also the alloys from the accessories brochure?

they are Volkswagen Racings wheels which are Team Dynamics
-
Very similar to those wheels from the accessories brochure. They are 18's in there though.
These are going on my shopping list!
-
is it lowered also?
-
Looks good that

Andy, I don't suppose you know what offset VWR are using on the mk7 wheels do you? I'm guessing ET45 but reckon the rears could get away with ET35 and I know the Germans are running 35mm on the rear.
And I don't suppose they hinted at when ECU software was being released did they?
As for those not familiar with VWR, yes those wheels are Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 wheels that VWR sell with the TD logos removed from the rim and the correct 57.1mm centre bore so you don't have to faff about with spigot rings.
I briefly ran a set on my last mk6 in 18" and they looked really good and were lighter than the BBSs that I had on there before.
They are very different to the accessory brochure wheels!
-
the 19s are based on the Pro Race 1.3s, the matt anthracite is also an exclusive colour, not sure on offsets etc
i know APR have a car in the USA so i'm assuming they are working on software as are others
my view is i'd wait a while on the mk7 for mapping to see what flags up or doesn't
-
Nice one, ta.
The VWR race car is running software too so will be a good development hack!

sorry only saw the car, she is a beaut!
-
That photo makes the front look very vunerable its nearly touching the ground on that slight slope.

Am I being thick or does that website not have any prices on?
Car looks awesome lowered. Best colour too
-
You can't buy direct but you can get vwr stuff from Apr
-
More pics on their site now. Definitely getting these springs on mine

Nice
I've ordered a set of these springs, on back order since early January. APR still don't have them in stock to ship. Waiting patiently....

Interesting, Tuning Werkes in Croydon told me they were more readily available...

So, if you go for VWR kit, does it mean there are no "potential" warranty problems ?
Could be handy, as a friend of mine has recently become an APR dealer/supplier :)
-
After too many cars with ruined ride quality making me vow to never ever modify the suspension on my cars ever again - I have to admit - that does look tempting!!

We can nominate you as group buy coordinator then!
-
I also vote karlak for group buy co-ordinator
Wouldnt mind a set of these myself as long as they dont ruin the ride.

I can ask him the question. Not sure what mark-up there is in these things.
-
there is a decent margin on these based on discounts i get from VWR
worth checking for those who have ordered through APR sale as it would appear APR have relocated their UK operation to Germany and have no staff in MK now
-
Was going to order from Awesome and get my local trusted garage to fit them.
But, put me down for the group buy!
-
Would like a set of those wheels! :)
-
So, with the Springs. Would you guys generally fit them yourselves ? Ideally would it not need tracking afterwards ?
I guess the fitting and tracking would add quite a bit to the price.
-
Changing the springs is pretty easy if you got axle stands a decent socket set and some spring compressors. Maybe 3-4 hours doing it on your driveway.....Fronts can be a pain....rears are normally pretty easy.
And yes you,ll need the tracking doing afterwards...every time without fail after ive done springs tracking needs sorting out.
Top tip....be sure to disconnect any leveling sensors from suspension arms before releasing the shocks from the arms.....

I'm guessing the springs are the same on the GTI and the GTD?
-
Interestingly Awesome's outlet "Parts Bucket" have 10 sets of VWR springs going for £199.99 on ebay...

Anyone tempted? You're only saving about £10 though...

Stop it Monsta.... It is just too tempting!

I've messaged them to see why they are listed when the website says out of stock. There is a suggestion in the description they might not come in the right packaging.
They're on my list, just trying to find a decent price for fitting locally. My Dad mentioned the other day he had a spring compressor in his shed though, dare I do DIY?
-
I've fitted springs before, it's not too difficult, just take your time and you will be fine. Will make it easier still because everything is new.
When they email you back start negotiating a better price, they should be able to knock off 10% straight away if you deal outside of eBay to avoid the fees.

Cheers, I'm tempted I must admit. The rear ones would be easy from what I've seen, perhaps I'll give it a go.
Now to negotiate a discount
-
Let us know how you get on with the discount
J
-
I've just sent them a message via eBay asking what the best price is fitted as they are only down the road from me. Will let you know what they say
-
Looking forward to seeing the price Darlo, they aren't too far from me either.
J
-
Turns out they aren't seconds they're the full branded version.
No discount negotiation yet!

£350 all in....... Very tempting!
-
Those VWR springs do look very nice and the VWR GTI looks spot on to me
-
I've never sorted one before but I have been speaking to the lad on eBay re the springs and mentioned the interest his advert created and he will discuss a group buy for the springs. Now before I started asking about discount etc how many people would actually be interested?
Admin - is this the right way to go about a group buy? Need a separate thread or permission?! Feel free to move/delete!
-
I am interested, but it depends on price. I am happy with the way the GTI handles. I don't want to 'upset' it, so i guess i still haven't made up my mind as tempting as they are...

Hi Darlo, I have been messaging him about the same thing but haven't had a chance to call him yet.
Definitely up for a group by. If we can get about 15-20% off I'd be very happy....

Great minds!
I've only emailed him at the minute as I'm still not 100% due to any potential warranty issues given I've already had some suspension parts replaced. I've also enquired if the alignment is really required on a new car as it shouldn't make any huge difference as it's not exactly getting dropped on its arse. He is recommending it but I don't think it is!
Decisions decisions!!
