Title: VCDS VAGCOM Question regarding seatbelt pretensioners
Post by: Snoopy on 01 October 2013, 12:30
Does VCDS register if a seatbelt pretensioner has gone off?

I had a loud gunshot type noise from the passenger side of the car on the way home last night.
Thought i had blown a tyre out it was so loud but could be a pretensioner going off by accident as was on a bumpy country road.
My ears were ringing.

Are they connected to the canbus system and so log a fault if they go off?

PS
I thought we had a vagcom forum :undecided:

My brothers Audi A4 Y reg had these issues logged

01211 - Belt Tensioner Igniter; Rear Driver Side (N196)
            32-10 - Resistance too High - Intermittent
00588 - Airbag Igniter; Driver Side (N95)
52-10 - Supply Voltage Too High - Intermittent

So I would have thought that if it has gone off there will be something logged. They were on the air bag module side no light on though.

Thanks.
I auto scanned it last night after getting my cable back. No fault codes all listed as ok.
Didnt see the pretensions in the airbag section but I went into that controler and no faults logged.

Maybe a large stone then hitting something underneath?

Was more like a gunshot or explosion than a bang.
