Title: no rear speakers on my mk2??
Post by: baggiemad on 19 August 2005, 23:22
i have recently bought a 1990 gti 16v, have upgraded the stereo to a lovely sony mp3 unit, and thought it strange there seem to be no speakers in the rear!! Not even any wiring there to hook some in!

Is this normal for this model? I know the Germans are tight with standard equipment but...

I would love to do  my mp3 player justice by  putting rear speakers in, but not sure how to do it and what type speakers to use?
There is a space for them (6 x 4's ) but i dont really want to hack up my parcel shelf, and i think the shelf suport would rattle under higher volumes if i put speakers there

any ideas?  :undecided:

Odd one that .

All the Golf mk2s that I have worked on over the years have had factory fit rear speakers except for some of the early 1.3 ' C ' models.

I had a Stealth Shelf for mine with 6x9's in it .  Paid for by my insurance comany when some b6rst6d broke in to it and nicked the original with 6x9s in it . ( It would seem that they assumed that they were paying for a standard one  )
