Had my GTI for about a week now and it's amazing. Just one query though as I'm not sure if it's just me.
When I reach motorway speeds (70-80) I find that the sound of the wind on the car is very noticeable. I've just come from an Mk6 TDI and don't remember noticing anything like that unless I was going closer to 90.
Has anyone else had similar issues?
Also has anyone got a "squeaky" gearstick - ie the plastic icon with the numbers squeaks when you thumb it?

I noticed when i was a passenger when my brother was test driving a GTD that the wind noise past the door was quite a bit louder than my mk6. :-\

Funny enough we went on a jaunt down to Westfield today, and I was the passenger. I did notice some wind noise from the passenger side at higher motorway speeds - but nothing I would consider loud or intrusive. Just turn the music up!

Roll the windows up big lad.

I can't hear anything above the sound of the Dynaudio

It is probably because the sound insulation is much more improved in the mk7 in the wheel arches and engine bay and for that reason the wind noise of the mirrors is more pronounced than the mk6. By the way, my brother owns the mk6 and I find it a very silent car. I can't wait for my mk7 pp to arrive!

They said that about the mk6 over the mk5 regarding insulation in the wheel arches but all they did was stuff them with water absorbing foam!

Indeed, foam with water is much more insulating than just foam!
Just kidding.
