Title: a few questions
Post by: Scottymk4 on 29 September 2013, 10:03
hey guys,
picking up my new car in a few days and it has a couple of issues, first it has the standard rust issues, front wheel arches slightly bubbling and around boot handle...question on this is do I just try and replace these bits or get them resprayed? what would be rough cost of respraying?.. secondly it has the blue/black recaro interior but on the front passenger seat the bit on the back that has the net type thing deems to be coming loose, what holds this on and is it fixable?

thanks for any help.

scott

With the rust id replace the parts but bare in mind unless you can find a mint wing in the same colour usually about between £30-£50 on ebay then when you take it to be sprayed you will be paying for the wing to be sprayed and it to be blended in to the bonnet, door and bumper.

In regards to the seat, get a needle out and start sewing.

I take it the whole part doesn't need to be sprayed ? The bubbling isn't to bad so will maybe get a few quotes... Any idea on cost of respraying these bits ?

Yes it will if you want a good colour match. Plus as Nino says it will need to be blended in to the door and bonnet. Dont do that and it will stand out a mile

well i reckon you would be better off replacing the wing if it has any rust.
Rust = cancer to cars.
if you get a replacement wing and have it sprayed, prep and blown in and blended I doubt you would be paying more than £150

I know Barry but haven't seen one yet that doesn't have a bit if rust and the price I'm paying for the car is cheap enough and mechanically it's sound
