Hi All. New to the site and first post. Picked up my new toy last Friday and so far I'm very impressed. But I have one niggle which is an intermittent rattle from somewhere behind the dashboard or at the back of the engine compartment. It's only at low revs/tick over. I'm 99% certain that it's not mechanical. The car doesn't miss a beat and drives perfectly. I will take it back to the dealers at some point soon but I just know that when I do the rattle will refuse to play ! Any ideas or similar experiences ? Thanks

Could it be the good old transport pucks? They seem to cause ride problems / squeeks / noises at low speed....

Yep, quite a common problem with VW cars. Had it on my MkV Gti which the dealer fixed easily because they had just had to do it on a brand new Passat.
I get it at cold tick over (just above 1000rpm). It is caused by some cable or pipe rattling against firewall (the bit that separate's you from the engine). All the dealer has to do is secure it away from this area. 5 minute job.

Seen a few mk7s now with noise you are describing and it's been heater pipes to matrix hitting each other just behind console trims in passenger footwell

Update ! When out today the rattle made an appearance. But stopped immediately I turned the air-con off !!! George K - is that linked to your experiences ? I will test my theory again tomorrow during my 50 mile round trip commute. Thanks

On cars I've seen not noticed aircon on or off but noise on at or just above idle speed

Mine had a bit of a dash buzz at around 1500 rpm. I will get it looked at when I get back from my hols.
