Title: Heating probs on my Golf mk4 gti 20v
Post by: deanos69 on 28 September 2013, 12:26
I just cant go another year with only luke warm heating, iv done every think I can think of to try and fix the prob but nothing seems to solve it. first I changed the thermostat and tested it before I put it in, I then run out any air too, but this has not worked, then I got my mechanic to flush out the matrix but he said it was running fine so still no joy , then I had all my cam belt and tensioner and upgraded my water pump but still no joy I even took it to a vw macanic and he said he could not understand what it could be. iv had the car for 10 years know and want to keep it as I have looked after it but at the point where if i cant fix it ill have to let my poor car go. can any one help

Is the low temp reflected through the temp gauge or just the actual heaters mate? Is it reading below 90 degrees?

Could be a blocked heater matrix. If you can locate the two pipes that go to it through the bulkhead, with the engine upto temp, check for any noticeable variation in temp between the two.

change your cabin filter (if fitted)
