Hey all,
Strange one today. While driving along the car just died...pulled over and turned it over which it did fine. Didnt take straight away but when it did it popped and banged a bit before revving to 4k and slowly dropping.....then drove fine??
Started it later and again it was lumpy spluttering a bit before clearing then running fine??
Anyone had similair issues?
-
my guess is the Coil
-
Could it be a faulty MAF sensor?
-
Thanks guys.
Coil has been suggested and throttle body to. Ill clean the maf and see what happens. Thanks again
-
Unless you have been driving in very heavy rain and some electrical part got wet I would say the coil too!
-
Replaced coil, dizzy and rota arm.....also plugs and leads.....still happening?? Cam position sensor next but beginning to get annoying
-
Sounds like the MAF to me as mine had a similar problem. Try unplugging the MAF then driving car. If it gets any worse its ok and if no different thats the problem Mate

Mine won't even start with the MAF disconnected.
If it's constant then possibly a blocked injector?
If it happens regularly when the engine gets hot then a sensor has to be the main suspect.

Valves don't have a maf. They have a map sensor in the ecu instead. Try the blue temp sensor, causes issues exactally the same on yours, just on the right of the head near the coolant flange
-
looking at your other post i would take a chance of either ecu or fuel pump relay, when the car is warm touch both and see if either are red hot, Both are known to fail and can cause some odd running issues but more so after several miles of running
replace as needed
-
boneybradley., cheers for the shout. have replaced both relays and still happening........
bigberty101, at the risk of sounding mega dumb, please can you explain where this is. I have laready replaced the engine coolant temp sensor that screws into block??Is this one diffrent.
Definately only doing after its properly warm, then left for a little while.....
Update of changes so far, plugs, leads, rotor arm, dizzy, engine water temp, both fuel and ecu relays, cam position sensor, ignition coil, vacuum hoses aswell as cleaning throttle body
-
Right guys so an update..........
Changed the "blue" sensor in water system which is to do with a thermo cut out, no joy.... ;-(
Car still playing up when warm.....so going to destroy the bloody thing..
-
Used to have this issue in very wet weather, have you changed the coil/ht leads/spark plugs yet?
Have you had it plugged into vagcom yet to see if any error codes are there?
-
Not plugged in yet as initial test didnt show any fault code from garage, but do think they were full of poo....
Strangely no engine lights on??
