Title: BW39 Club
Post by: RikWebb on 27 September 2013, 00:15
Anybody else confirmed as BW39 ?

Been checking mine all week - still on the
Build Week Confirmed
Your order has been confirmed for production week commencing 22/09/2013
Was hoping I would see some movement by now.

Same here! Still BWC for wk39

Just called VWCS (not exec office) and was told it could be either this week or next and retailer should of advised me of that...the lies just continue......what's the point of confirming a build week when it could be anything around that week!

Was really hoping to get my hands on the car in October but that now looks unlikely!

All of the above ^^^^ have you called your dealers for a response?

Pls post what they say, I'd be very interested.

Wonder if the tracker will auto roll over on sunday morning for you guys?

Is it me or are there a good number of Carbon Grey GTIs scheduled for BW39?

I emailed my dealer, he believes my car is not yet currently being built, and that the factory is behind with Golfs builds in general.

Fingers crossed the status changes soon to build in progress!

Maybe they are grouping together builds with the same colours?  I am a confirmed BW40 and have a CSG GTD on order. I wonder if mine will be built the same time as PeterDohertys who is a CSG GTD on BW39...

Tracker is now showing

We couldn't find your Volkswagen order number. Please check and try again.

I'm not sure if that's good news or bad !
Title: Re: BW39 Club
Post by: dippy_x on 27 September 2013, 15:11
This seems to happen everytime they are making updates to the tracker.

How about letting people know with a simple message that there is an update taking place instead of making it seem like your order has been deleted.  Yeah that would be far too helpful.

I'm also a BW39 (GTD in White), I also still say on stage 3, dealer says not to worry.
I'm now worried!
Title: Re: BW39 Club
Post by: e.l.s on 27 September 2013, 18:13
Ours is the same. Dealer says the tracker isn't reliable, and plenty of people on here can confirm that! he assured me it will be built this week and delivered end of October. I am sure it won't be though!

All the build week 39'ers

I was build week 38......................mine stayed at build week confirmed until last sunday (22/09/13) when it changed to build in progress. Today it changed to 'In transit' so don't panic. There is a good chance yours will change come 12.10am on Sunday morning (when i checked mine last week!!)

I've been lurking around here for a while. Thought it was about time I signed up. Great forum. I've learned a lot.

Perhaps that means you'll just get a crate of car parts and will have to build it yourself.

I heard that because of the sheer amount of Tornado Red cars ordered (90% by 2014 of all GTI / GTD's will be red) they had to delay them until the pink mixture was ready.

Mine has turned to 3 weeks this morning.
Because of where I live and where I'm picking it up from (long story) I've booked the day off to go and collect mine, I'm on countdown to Monday 28th October. The dealer is "confident" that will be fine.
I live in hope.

Title: Re: BW39 Club
Post by: Thornster on 07 October 2013, 13:12
In a stange way I'm hoping I'm in the same boat, because at least that means it'll be built for the end of this week.

I was originally advised BW42, so I can't complain too much, but I need to know when the cars going to be ready so I can sell my current car at the right time.

Once again the usefulness of the Tracker is brought into question, I'd rather it gave a reason for the delayed or protracted build, at least that way you'd know what was going on.

See,  this is the thing I don't understand.  When they confirm your build week you would think that they would have confirmed that everything required to build your car would be available at that time else what's the point in having a confirmed build week.  Wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow you got a totally different excuse...

Your not alone mate, I'm still in build stage. Dealer has just got off the phone to me, apparently there has been a delay due to parts (rear view camera) but that my GTI has now gone into build. Therefore is actually a Wk41 car not 39. He is still hopeful of an end of month delivery. Going in on Friday to sort the finance etc

Which port are you expecting it to come into? The Autoprestige is currently enroute to Emden (due tonight) and based its past travels usually moves onto Sheerness next (hopefully due sometime early on Sun. I'm hoping my car makes it on this boat (dealer in Kent).

I'm in the same boat, I have had enough of waiting.

There are 3 ships due in from emden between now and 9am tomorrow.
The weser highway sat at the port for about 4 days before it set off this morning. My dealer tells me that the ships sometimes wait to be filled before setting off.

If you apply a bit of logic (dangerous I know) our cars were on that ship waiting for it to set off. Another 2 ships left this morning, the EMS highway to Grimsby and auto prestige to sheerness.

It seems totally ridiculous that while my car was at the docks, other cars have been built, transported to emden and gone straight onto a ship.

If I don't have progress by Monday I will be grilling the dealer for answers.

26 weeks now and no car.

Did any of you guys who's cars are in the UK skip the 10 day phase of the tracker? Mine has been stuck at 3 weeks for ages now. I'm secretly hoping it is going to jump to Arrived any day now. Its not going to happen though is it .
No, mine went through all the times and stages of the transit phase.

I would ask your dealer what's going on. They seem to know a bit more than us, and mine certainly knew the name of ship it was sailing on, so if it has been allocated a ship they should know.

I am at a loss to work out why they fail to apply a FIFO queue system to cars destined for the same part of the UK.

Ours was on 3 weeks for just over a week, then changed to 7 days yesterday but the car was already at the dealership. It's changed today to you car has been delivered to the retailer so it's definitely out of time. What does your dealer say?

My dealer told me that it is on the docks. He promised me that he would ring me today for an update as he is on holiday next week. Guess what, no call.

It does mean that next week if I call the dealership I have to speak to the manager, may be a good thing.

Mine flicked over to 10 days this morning.
Also I've seen some of the finance paper work and it says the car is due to be registered 25th October so they must know its going to be there in time.
Anyway, getting really close now and the excitement is starting up again after weeks and weeks of frustration.

Have you noticed that the wording on the tracker is wrong, it says that this model takes 10 from build. Well its already been 20 days from build and yesterday it said 3 weeks from build.

Unlucky. That is really unfortunate. I wonder what is really going on. Have they even started it yet? It certainly hasn't been sat on a production line for this long.

Those who are in the UK or at the dealer, how long did you stay at 10 days for?
Title: Re: BW39 Club

Ours changed to 3 weeks on the 1st or 2nd of October, and on the 5th the dealer advised that it was at port on a status 38 which meant about 2 weeks away. It arrived at the dealers on the 11th without the tracker ever going to 10 days

It didnt make the AutoPrestige to sheerness on Sunday last - hoping it does this week (looks like that boat does a round-robin weekly route). Not sure if there are any other boats before then.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with Dynaudio. I always up spec the sound system, so it was a no brainer for me. There is lots of customisation, with 4 preset sound equalisations and a custom profile you can setup for bass, mid and treble. Also there is a sound stage to configure where the distribution goes in the car, and the sub can be adjusted too. I think it is the LOUDEST factory system I've owned - I just did a back-to-back comparison against my MINI Countryman with the HK system. The Dynaudio can go much louder without distorting, and easily beats the Bose systems I've had in past Audis too. The MINI seems to be a warmer sound than the Dynaudio though - I think the Dynaudio has a more "detailed" treble and punchier bass, if that makes any sense.

The line about parts shortage sounds like BS to me.

Why would they not just get the required part from another production line (I think you were told it was a shortage on a specific production line)?
How can VW justify a BW39 car waiting on a readily available part whilst BW40 (and soon BW41) car are now at the dealers!!!!

Sounds to me more likely it didn't pass the final QA stage or something, and has had to go back into the production line or get re-built...

Hopefully the cars are stored safely!

The weather on Monday looks ok - just hoping there isn't too much chaos on the roads...

All being well I'll be there late morning.

Really looking forward to getting the keys and enjoying the drive home

Don't give up Rik! Get on to VW UK Customer services and complain bitterly. I was in the same position as you and after giving them an earful, the car was built and in the UK within 7 days. Picking it up on the 1st November.

I did Sam - they just don't seem to care! - I'm very close to cancelling and ordering a car I might actually get!
Been pricing the BMW's today....
I cant just wait forever, and I'm getting no answers from VW

Rikwebb: You're being treated shabbily but i'm pretty sure you'd still get yours quicker than a BMW ordered from scratch now. Time to call the executive office or pass an email onto the VW UK head honcho. Those emails do get read, mine was responded to within 2 days and I supposedly got priority shipping (it did move quickly from portside to ship - although most Tyne-bound cars do anyway).

Called VW CS again - don't know anything about me calling - car still at stage 20 checkpoint 7 of 8
I have complained bitterly - they cant do anything or tell me anything.
I asked to be put through to someone higher - they just tell me to speak to the dealership
I tell them I have spoke to dealership and do so regularly and that they cant tell me anything either.
I told to speak to dealership Brand Manager.

Nobody can tell me when I will get my car - or what's happening- this is plain stupid

Must be the worst customer experience and care I have ever encountered.

Is there any other BW39 folk waiting?

Just had a call from dealer and I will not get before the end of NOVEMBER

Enough is enough - 6 moths of my life wasted

discussing the cancellation now - and looking to order something else

This is really poor, and I'm gutted for you. I'm certain I would have cancelled by now too.

My concern would be that something bad has happened to the car during build.

I hope you fare better with whatever you decide to go with.

That's my concern too - that its going to be a fixed bad build and cause issues further down the line.

I cannot actually believe that VW think this sort of treatment of customers is acceptable
Even though the dealer has just reminded me that I'm not the customer (and therefore cannot complain) - Leasedrive are.....
Its me that would be paying monthly for it - and its not cheap
I will be writing to the Exec office -
Paul Willcox, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group (UK) Limited

Words cannot explain how incredibly frustrated I am - I need to calm down

Post by: monkeyhanger on 28 October 2013, 18:05
I can't believe how long it has been at stage 7 of 8 in the build and no-one can tell you why. I would say it has had a major accident on the line (maybe a services pipe or bracket etc fell on it, due to some line maintenance gone wrong etc - seen it happen while working at Fords) and you're getting a replacement one built soon.

You should be going higher than VW UK CS - take it to the top and email the head of VW UK. Chances are your dealer can't find out anything either.
Title: Re: BW39 Club
Post by: Thornster on 28 October 2013, 19:38
@ RikWebb - what would annoy me most would be the lack of honesty, clearly something has happened during the build, so why not don't VW just say as much?

Great to see @peterdoherty there collecting his GTD too!

Still getting used to the DSG (I think this will take a few weeks), but I think the car is fantastic overall. After all the mpg concerns I was also pleased to see 38mpg after the first leg of my journey from Kent to Birmingham - and I wasn't hanging about...

I would be wanting a major sweetener for what you are going through. In line with the hail storm new builds, it looks like yours will finally get finished and on it's way almost 8 weeks after it was supposed to be - reeks of replacement build to me. What did the hail victims get for their extra wait? You will be wanting the same.

At this moment - I'm cancelling tomorrow

I ordered 16th May, was told maximum 16 weeks
First date I got was end of July, then Aug, then Sept, then Oct, now end Nov

Then its just been - delay, bullsh!t, delay, bullsh!t, delay
Not forgetting general bad customer service and being too big to care about their customers...
now I fear there is a problem with it that they are trying to fix and I don't want a bodged car

I'm writing to the CEO tomorrow
I need to pick a new car now - any ideas of a similar car that's not VAG

Not VAG pretty much puts you in Merc A-Class 220D or BMW 120/123/125D, maybe Alfa Giulietta or new Volvo V40? With your wait i doubt you'd be getting a fix, more like a replacement. Haggle hard on the BMW - it's been out longest and they seem to try hardest to get your business right now out of the German marques.

A fact VW are trading on right now when they arse UK customers around. Dealers are helpless to what VW UK do, VW UK may be helpless to what VW GmbH do, and VW GmbH don't give a sh!t. Why each link in the chain can't find out what the next bit is up to is beyond me. Are they hoping that you will not bother them while your car is delayed 8-10 weeks beyond expectations? Would it not be better for them to say "there's been an unresolvable issue with your car, so we have to make you a new one. For the huge inconvenience we're going to give you a discount, and we're sorry".

Mate, really feel for you but there is something seriously wrong with your order to be delayed so much.
Have you been able to visually check the VW system yourself with your own eyes at your dealership. (see at which point your car is stuck at)?

Right, this may sound a rubbish idea but I would reject the order, get them to order the same car again and when the first car turns up you get to use it until your 2nd car tuns up.  make sure you get compensation too.

Rikwebb: Did they at least know what goodwill gesture they will be giving you for your epic wait? VW UK didn’t know what I was getting. When it turned out to be Autoglym, I did wonder whether VW UK would be paying for it or whether they’d just strongarm the dealer into providing it FOC out of their margin.

I finally got my tax disc refund off the Scirocco 8 weeks to the day after sending it. The DVLA like to keep hold of your money for as long as possible, yet can send out a V5 and a tax disc for the new car in a few days.
Title: Re: BW39 Club
Post by: RikWebb on 05 November 2013, 16:05

No mention of 'good will' today - but I will be chasing them as soon as the car lands

I think, they think I will 'pipe down' now and go away.... how little they know me :)
Only reason I got a customer relations manager call me was that I was piping off on FB and Twitter
They forget I can still do it....

Funny - just had a call from Leasedrive, to tell me progress.
I had escalated through them to senior management - who in turn escalated to VW Fleet senior team, who went up through VW ------ that happened yesterday - Strangely this morning my car is in transit

I had gone through this forum, social media, dealer, VW CS, VW customer relations and Leasedrive & management team

Only now have a car coming - but still no answer on what happened..

Rikwebb: That's the way to do it, shame them publicly "they don't like it up 'em Mr Manwaring!". It's a little easier to complain about a late car than a late meal in a restaurant (someone WILL spit on your food! ).

Keep us informed about any goodwill gesture. There's been a few of us here who've had a £250-300 gesture on only a couple of weeks wait.
