Do you ever get the feeling it's going to be one of those days? Well today is one of those for me.
Was taking my daughter to school this morning on a narrow country lane. There's a particularly nasty corner which has a raised kerb for no good reason I can think of. Going into it some idiot coming the other way is in the middle of the road. I had no choice but to pretty much steer into the kerb. Result: front nearside alloy kerbed
I get to the school and drop her off. Whilst doing a three point turn another idiot (very young in a Corsa) comes tearing up, doing at least 50 - bear in mind this a 30 zone and outside a school. I saw him and thoght 'he's not going to slow down', just as I was across the middle of the road. I really thought that was it - but somehow he screeched to a stop inches away from my door. Let me tell you, the air turned blue when I got out. And some of the mums didn't hold back either
Anyway - I was lucky to get away with just a kerbed alloy, which in the scheme of things is not too bad. Still not happy, mind.
Does anybody know a good wheel repair outfit in the Bucks area? I'd like to get it repaired before any sort of corrosion starts. Car is only two months old.

Aww, mate, feel sorry for you! I hate those days where you just thing, I gotta get off the road... Hope you bopped the Corsa driver on the nose! Report him to the coppers for dangerous driving? I bet he was on bald tyres too. He probably doesn't think he did anything wrong.
I remember watching a clip on youtube of someone speeding and rear ending a stationary vehicle. I couldn't believe that 99% of the comments on the video were "its the other cars fault for being stopped in the road". One guy was adamant that the right thing to do was to take the corner at full speed even if this meant it would be impossible to stop?!?! I assume these comments all came from corsa drivers too...

I think if I were you I would be leaving the car in the garage for the remainder of the day cause it sounds like your having one of those days where everything that can go wrong does

Thanks Bill. I should have reported him, but I wasn't thinking straight at the time. Was just relieved that he didn't smash into the side of me.

It's parked at the station - I just hope it's there when I get back..........

Gutted for you. Horrible feeling. It will happen to all of us at some point though. Sounds like it could have been worse, what a complete (unt - and then people wonder why everyone gets on the backs of young male drivers - w7nkers like that make my blood boil!

Oh no.... and the trouble with the alloys is they are very difficult to refurb due to the diamond cut finish. Only a handful of places will do them and I've heard/seen mixed results.

UK wide coverage from Lepsons in Kent - give them a try.

It lines you up with the parked cars in front and behind, so if they're up against the kerb, you will be too. If the space looks a bit tight, you're better off parking it yourself.

The same way you know where the kurb is now! With your eyes... ::)
