Well driving home from my girlfriends, came off a roundabout and put my foot down to accelerate and the eml started flashing, I took my foot off the accelerator and then back on again. Car started to judder and started to slow down. A warning message popped up on the dash so I pulled off onto an industrial estate. There was lots of smoke behind me. So I had to have the AA come out and rescue me.
Fault came up as P0303 relating to coil pack. Checked and seems ok.
Got it back to the garage and it looks like the turbo has gone. Gonna head to vw Monday morning and see what they say. If they don't fix it I'll be looking to upgrade the turbo I think.
Car has only done 22,000 miles and only just serviced yesterday. Can't believe it..... £ I could do without spending

Gutted for you m8, does car have any warranty?
-
I would check the PCV system ? the valve could of been stuck and pressurising the crankcase, this happened to me and caused white smoke to come out of the exhaust, very unusual for a turbo to go ?
If it is the Turbo ive got the standard IHI in my garage that I took off mine, will let you have that cheap to keep costs down for you
Keep us posted on your findings :undecided:

Yes it has warranty mate, but for whatever reason if they won't cover it I'll be in touch.
I will have to hold on for the bcs exhaust till I find out what is going on.

Not good. I have heard of a few turbos going but as Neil says it may just be the pcv system valve.

VAG Error Code: 16687
EOBD II Error Code: P0303
Fault Location:
Cylinder 3 - Misfire Detected
Possible Cause:
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)(K83) active.
Lack/loss of power.
Hard start.
Engine hesitation.
Wiring/Connector(s).
Ignition system.
Fuel injectors.
Fuel pressure.
Running out of fuel.
EVAP canister purge valve.
Evaporative emission system.
Low compression.
Base engine problems.
Engine Control Module (ECM).
Special Notes:
This feature search for engine misfire in a specific cylinder. Most of the time the cause for a misfire is a lack of combustion in a cylinder due to absence of spark, poor fuel metering, or poor compression.
Tech Notes:
The P0303 code means that the cylinder 3 is misfiring or is randomly misfiring. Start by checking for intake leaks an if no leaks are found the next step is to replace the spark plugs on cylinder 3. If the problem persist more tests needs to be done to diagnose problem.
When is the code detected?:
Engine Cylinder 3 is misfiring.
Description:
When a misfire occurs, engine speed will fluctuate. If the engine speed fluctuates enough to cause the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor signal to vary, the Engine Control Module (ECM) can determine that a misfire is occurring.

Cheers for that, it is in vw at the minute but they can't look at it until Thursday at the earliest.
They mentioned possibly turbo and chain tension as causes.
