Dose anybody no the size difference between standard arches and the g60 ones? And what are people's thoughts on them? Worth the money???
Thanks

Depends on what you intend to do with them. If the plan is to go low and wide then yes G60 arches are the answer. VW Heritage do them but the whole set isn't cheap.

its not a difference you would normally notice unless someone pointed it out to you.

You must be blind to not realise the G's are much wider than the 16v versions.
The fronts are 22mm wider and the rears are 7mm to accommodate the lower ET wheels fitted in the 90's.
And like dragonfly has said, only really required when going low and wide, otherwise the wheels can look lost.

What i always found odd was that g60 bbs rm's are et33, so dont really warrant the need for extended arches. Ive my suspicions that originally vag went with wider wheels then backtracked when car went to production due to costs.
Id love to have seen prototype/motor show pics of g60 when first shown to public

For me I like the low wide look so think this will be the route I will take. Only thing that puts me off is the £350 price tag  also not sure on wheel size? Don't really want to get arches rolled so dose this limit me to 15" or would 16" be doable?
Thanks

I wouldn't say 22mm was much wider  its not like mk2 escort box arches.

15 inch are meant to be best for good handling. and they don't look out of place on a little mk2. also depends how low you want the car. its all a compromise. you could go low and wide but the suspension would have to be stiffer to prevent arch rubbing.
-
I wold think the size of the wheels you can have would mainly come down to how low you wanted to go within reason. 15" is standard but if you want to go bigger just get slimmer profile tyres. I have 15" with 45 tyres and the front splitter sits an inch from the floor but I don't rub or scrape on most things. With rolled arches you could go wider and lower on the same wheel size. It's finding the right balance.

Thanks for that guys, I think 15" dish will proberly be what I go for, get it nice and low with some spacers on her.
Going to order some new suspension next wk, got 200 notes to spend on some not really sure what I would get for that? The car has already been lowerd but has loads of bodyroll and I think it's only been dropped at the front.

Twas never a low and wide thing. It was a wheel spec thing.
From factory they look lost. I changed to 90spec last week and looked soo odd. Even the texture didnt match
