Title: need a bit of help with engine light
Post by: della_mk3 on 19 September 2013, 20:06
i have done a quick search but cant find the answer im looking for

baaaaasically i have a 2000 1.8t arz and it was completely standard,  i have put a decat pipe on it and now im waiting for the engine light to come on to bring up some sort of catatlyc effeciency code because it has an after cat sensor.

im waiting for it to come on because when i get it remapped i can have the fault code taken out of the map. i know i can get them extension things for the sensors but i woud rather take this route.

my problem is, finally, that when i turn the ignition on there is no engine management light appearing, which i just thought was odd.  i have used vagcom on it and theres no codes stored. is this normall for these, because im sure everyother car i have worked on the engine light comes on with the ignition. any help will be appreciated, thanks

I don't think arz engines have an engine management light.

Something Iv always wondered about the arz.

What if something does go wrong. Is there any indication? I.e something that might normally put eml on but you wouldn't notice anything different to the car to drive?

Agu and arz don't have a engine management light. The arz will illuminate the 'epc' light if there is a problem detected with the fly by wire pedal/throttle or if the torque monitoring function detects a problem.
The arz is very similar to the pre facelift S3 in this respect.

Agu's have nothing, at all!
