has anyone done this?
was driving in the heavy rains the other night and couldnt see anything. ive decided im guna give in and get some hids for the main beam, but was just wondering if any ones put them in the fogs and if its worth getting some for them too. my fogs dont seem to make seeing in the dark any easier at the moment at all.

Might be worth looking at aftermarket fogs first. Hella do a good range

One small point you should not be using your fogs at night unless the visibility is below 50m

feel like i can just about see 20m let alone 50!!
theyve got correct voltage to them and are angled correctly before anyone says anything lol

My point is it is illegal to use fog lights at night unless it is deemed poor visibility.
If you are talking about rain/spray then no amount of powerful lights will help you.

If you use your foglights when its not foggy or what not YOUR A COMPLETE BELLEND!! I hate people running around with their fogs on or even their crappy HID lights during the day when the visibility is clean as fook!. Farkin ar$eholes!! Have you tried the new cree bulbs? Or a headlight relay kit?

Have you ever put your full beam on in fog? Makes visibility worse right?
So why are you gonna do this?
Have you tried a different height position for your main beam?
My mk3 was fine and I could see plenty enough to drive at night with no street lights or full beam on.
Most importantly you should never make your lights brighter than what they should be. What about all the poor drivers coming the other way?
Your not just blinding them untill they pass, your are changing the retina inside the eye. It then takes 5 minutes for the retina to adjust bake to night mode to take in as much light as possible.
If its pooring with rain and you cant see nothing in front of you, then slow down as your driving too fast.

i have no intention of driving around in the day or when ever its light enough to not need my lights, hid or not. i dont see the point in it what so ever so why would i? like you said its for idiots or people who shouldnt be driving if they actually need there lights on.

i have put full beam on in the fog, and yeh it makes it worse coz your lighting up all the fog right in your face. the point of fogs is too light up the road itself and get under the fog. my thinking is the better my fogs are the better im guna see when its foggy or very dark down the country roads.
and if hid are in the projector lenses which is where mine would be they shouldnt scatter the light everywhere. there so many new cars on the road now that everyone blinds everyone now anyway.

have you seen the height difference in fogs and head lights? Trust me it wont work.
And your attitude towards other drivers is shocking.
you might as well just glue your full beam on constantly.

I still say your best option is better fog lights, please do go look at the Hella range.
But dont be stupid and use these when they are 1. Illegal and 2. A danger to other road users!
