Title: Upgrading rear windows to electric

Hope somebody can help, bought an '10 Bluemotion 1.6 TDI that only has electric windows in the front. To stop the kids from messing with the handles I am attempting to fit electrics to the rear too. Bought the rear doors with motors, regulators and looms, got some new cards with the switches on too. It turns out that the present loom on the car will not fit the plugs on the 'new' parts. Does anyone have an idea which loom would be required to carry out this mod i.e. loom from dash to 'B' pillar. Roy at Autobarn has tried to fit the parts but isn't sure which parts would be required.

Tried the breakers before but they suggest I speak to the stealership

The problem is (as is with retro fitting anything nowadays) each car has it's own specific wiring loom dependent on it's specification. It may even be that your cars convenient module will not support rear electric windows, so would need re-coding or even replacing. It's not going to be a straightforward job, but maybe someone like http://www.motormods.co.uk/ or http://www.richtersport.co.uk/ could help you. The dealers will just look at their computers and say "no".

You could always take the rear winder handles off. That would stop the kids from playing with them.

I see nothing has changed with VAG then, it's never easy to improve/mod your car. I'm hoping Roy can re-code as he has just added a new cruise control stalk.

Guessed it would never be as easy as get a part no. from a car fitted with rears

Roy at Autobarn can recode. From what I can see I need the loom from the O/S of a car fitted with rear electrics to connect to the door looms and rear switches. Put a call out to the spares networks to try and find one, although still not sure where the loom runs from in the car, and whether it can be swapped
