Ive recently bought a 1.6 driver and theres a round green ball shaped thing which appears to do something but is attached to nothing, theres no tubes hanging around anywhere so im now ever so confused,,, what the fcuk is this odd ball thingy?????
-
Where is it?
-
Sounds like your talking about the vacuum reservoir situated between the master cylinder and the carb . There should be a sticker on the underside of the bonnet which has a diagram of where all the vacuum pipes / hoses go, trusting that you still have the original carb fitted
Hope this helps

my cars gone on of them! lol.. found it when i was cleanin all muck from under bonnet... funnily enough mines a driver too! its a funky lookin lil thing! me being the dumb blonde i am accepted it's there, an ignored it! lol.. glad you asked though! tis a bit like the ball bit you get floatin in a toilet box thingy.. if ya get me :undecided:
-
you mean a ballc0ck :lipsrsealed:
-
but, like that ball that floats in the toilet...it too is probably useful

so you were being serious, im sure it was called something else!! LOL! ahwell... it looks like one of them!! might clean my car tom seein as i have nowt else to do!
-
i think it must be because i have a better carb , sorted, thankgod i dont need it, i chucked in a bush in frustration the other day
-
You might need it depending on how the carb is set up. On a stock carbed model, theres a long green vacuum pipe from the thick brake servo vacuum tube, which runs round the front of the carb and splits into 2 pipes, one to the pull down unit and the other to the vacuum reservoir.
The one I'm talking about is labled A & B:

-

if youve still got a pierburg carb it should have a small pipe coming from it to the carb and another air hose going from the carb, but iv you have a weber, you bypaas the carb and connect these 2 together, wil get a pic
