Title: Anyone noticed this on their GTI ??

Has anyone noticed this on their GTI or is it just me ??

Is it just some kind of cover to cover various parts under the car? The reason I noticed it is because as you will see in one of my pics, if you are level with the side skirt this piece is actually lower than the side skirt.

I only noticed at work because I can see where I park from my office window and our office is set slightly lower than the ground, so I look at my car from say in level with below the door handles.

If it is indeed normal (and I'm just being a little paranoid) then I don't mind, I just didn't want something to have dropped as it seemed odd for this to be set lower than the side skirt. (All other various cars on my car park don't seem to have anything visible from my view point in my office, so seemed weird that this piece kinda sticks down a bit and I've already seen that pic someone else posted of the exhaust sitting wonky!)

Is it just a protective cover under the car that runs the width of the car? It is kinda level with the door handles and in my pictures the front of the car is to the right of the photos.

I think it is the screech valve cover..

All GTIs since the mk3 have it.
Infact it was even in an advert for the mk3 saying something like trust vw to put an aerodynamic spoiler were noone can see it.

Phew Thanks Berelli and Snoopy. It's just because I'd never noticed it before and it poked out a little below the car just seemed a little out of place on the car. But I don't mind if its by design just didn't want anything to have dropped like the exhaust pic.
