Title: vw golf m4 door lock problem
Post by: sps on 17 September 2013, 18:05
the car is vw golf 1.6se mk4 early 2002.

the keyfob remote only opens the driver side lock  even if i press it twice.

i can open the other 3 doors and the hatch lock by pressing the unlock button on the inside driver door handle.

vag.com shows no fault codes under central conveniences

what could be causing this?

how do i fix it?

My money would be on the convenience module being faulty, these aren't a cheap fix though. I have heard that sometimes disconnecting the battery for 10 mins resolves the problem, I'm not sure if there is any truth in this though.

you were bang on the money!
the problem was solved by disconnecting negative terminal of the battery for a few minutes.
hope it is a permanent fix.
