Title: lack of power....
Post by: robcooper12 on 17 September 2013, 00:24
Hi there, i have a Mk2 GTI 16v and im finding that if i accelerate fairly hard the car revs like its not in gear but it is? So it just revs highly and i have to take my foot off and press down more smoothly. im finding that it worse in 4th and 5th but acn happen in all gears. I dont know if its a clutch issue or a gearbox issue or engine issue..
Many thanks in advance...

Sounds like your clutch is slipping, how does the clutch pedal feel

it could be, iv been driving for 2 years and all ive driven is a 1979 mini, so the golf clutch feels soo different anyway! it feels really light, but that could just be me!

Just buy a sachs clutch kit, will come with clutch, pressure place, bolts etc. Only thing might be worth replacing that you'd need to buy in addition is the release bearing and cover plate, easy to change and cheap. Search for guides if you need one, loads of info out there..
