Title: Colour Change
Post by: Flintymutt on 16 September 2013, 11:51
Hi all. I've just had a change if heart on the colour choice. I ordered Oryx White originally on my order in July. I was given an unconfirmed BW 42. Over the weekend I've had a change of heart and now want Night Blue. Contacted the dealer this morning who says its pot luck with a new BW on this?

Any advice or similar experience had by anyone?

How much a colour change can affect a delay on your order generally should depend on how close to BW you are. You are very close to getting confirmed – I would say you will face a delay, but as to how long, who knows?

If common sense and planning prevail, VW will have roughly scheduled your car and others of the same colour by now, and to change they will have to slot you elsewhere within a campaign of night blue cars in the paint shop. Be sure you want to change and sure you’re prepared to have it knocked back another month (or more).

I changed the colour of my car from DBP to TR within a week of placing my order in BW13. Was unconfirmed for BW25/26 and an administrative cock up saw my dad’s TR GTD ordered 4 days later get changed to DBP instead. By the time the mistake was noticed, my dad’s GTD (now DBP) jumped the queue and got built in BW25. Mine got bumped back to BW28 and then confirmed for BW33 (but actually built in BW35). For me a colour change had big consequences on lead time.

Thanks ^^^ I've just had a confirmation from the dealer that the unconfirmed build week is still the same despite the colour change. Clearly we'll see over the next couple of weeks if there is any delay.

My dealer said a change of colour should not effect BW but once I changed the colour I was bumped back 10 weeks.

May I ask what prompted the change of mind?

Too many white cars in the family!  And to be honest I actually prefer the blue now seeing it in the flesh.

It will certainly be a rarer colour that's for sure.
